Yet another newbie needs help with growkit
    #26552249 - 03/23/20 02:39 AM (3 years, 10 months ago)

Hi,

I need your help in assessing the health of a King Cambodia Magic Mushroom growkit I started 12 days ago.
I received info from the shop I should only spray it with water until the first pins appear. So I did. I stopped spraying after.
I am using a heating mat. The kit is on small columns.
I Ventilate the bag every day. It still seems t consume air.

What worries me is that for about 4 days it does not change much, only gets more brown at the surface and the small pins that I hoped will be mushroom turned black.

Please find the photos below aligned chronologically.

I am here to learn and will be coming back. I Will appreciate your help. Even a quick reply will do wonders and calm my mind.
As I do not have much to offer, here is a very nice and new video from Sam Harriss on taking mushrooms:
'take five grams of magic mushrooms in the dark, blindfolded...'

Thanks,
wink

Grow kits usually turn out this way. It's probably some kind of
contamination that's making the pins die.

I suggest searching here reading about the PF tek and making cakes and
such.

Then also reading about monotubs and shoebox teks and working with grains

:whathesaid:
Seriously, doing it yourself is much better than having to rely on trashcan growkits that were thrown together by God knows who.
And the hobby is actually quite fun once you get into it.

PF tek all the way if you're just starting out. Google it, the most well written tek actually isn't on shroomery (sorry guys.) I think it's called PF Tek for dummies or something like that. PM me if you can't find it.

But regardless of where you read about it, PF Tek is so simple and fail-proof. It's a perfect way to learn which is definitely what you need more of.  Good luck 👍👍 PM me if you need anything

well, for now, since you already spent your cash on the kit...you need to stop watering it. I would poke few more holes in the bag and just let it sit, do not water it anymore, its damp as hell. It may contam even further, but try and let it go and see what happens

I wonder how hot it is in that thing with the heating mat. I haven't seen anyone using heating mats or any heating on this site.

It's the heating mat. Get rid of it ASAP.

Thank you for all your replies. Much appreciated. I will try not to water it, make some holes for the air and see what happens. I also turned off the heating mat and flipped the cake to the side in the box. It was advised by the seller. Will read about PF tek in the meantime. Will keep you posted.
