Hey guys, looks like I'm on stuck at home for the next month until the Carona virus blows over. Wondering what I'm gunna get up to for the whole month and remembered its also shroom season! When do you guys think the shrooms are gunna start popping up? I live in Auckland and wondering if searching parks in the city or going to Riverhead forest is the best place to look? Its started to get cold lately and we've had a few days of rain, they might pop up before the end of the month I hope!

Hey guys how are y’all doing?
Been out yet?? Looking at all the post on Facebook from the groups and seems the north and south are popping at weird and wacky rates. I’ve had to move from my rural town to now paraparaumu and with this isolation hunting & prepping and even scouting for new patches Is going to be highly difficult with the police monitoring but not impossible. I have aimed to go out every few days early in the morning for a walk and have a look around. Right now the weather is wet, misty but warm so I’m waiting for the first frost to really have a look but at the moment no sign of any fruiting yet.

Anyone had luck in Chch yet? With all this rain and cool weather over the last few days, surely conditions are ideal. I've never successfully found anything before, and am a bit wary with the lockdown going on now.

Season has definitely begun in coastal Otago... was only 2 weeks earlier then last year for me. By the 24th of april i had over 20 grams. Keeped going until mid August. Hope to be just as lucky this season.

Thanks for your comment, I checked the place out and its the perfect environment for mushrooms. Was a bit dry so didn't find any but will go back and check after next rainfall if I can. Also I can confirm that the mushroom season has started because my friend found some down in Oamaru the other day and sent me a pic. So excited! I recently moved from Invercargill and they used to grow on the cricket fields in Queens park. Thats a good spot if you live near there

Were those liberty caps or subs that grow on the cricket pitch? Just checked out the bark at the super market car park and all I saw were Leratiomyces ceres

They are liberty caps on the cricket patch. You need to go in the early morning or the Sun will fry them during the day. Also I would usually find most of them on the cricket patch closest to queen's drive. Didn't find much on the other side closest to the museum

Hi
I'm a looking for a NZ field guide link... I'm a 36 year Aucklander interested in the writings of McKenna and Stamets. Any advice or links would be much appreciated.
