Felons can go to school. They cannot get a gun licence.
You need a real ID to get a gun licence. You don't need an ID at all to get a student ID if you're clever
You don’t think an ID issued by the university of Texas is a government ID?
You truly believe someone is going to get a fake college ID to wait in line and hope that the actual registered voter hasn’t already voted, just to steal one vote from a person that might have voted for the same candidate anyways? This is not a serious concern and you know it.

Only for the sake of government consistency. I personally could care less about the voting system. The US government makes a licence a part of life. You need ID to get married, drive, buy restricted items, etc... I think if you're going to vote you should at least have the responsibility to be a good little citizen and get yourself an ID.

You believe that people without ID are not good citizens? That sounds pretty fucking arbitrary to me.

It's definitely no serious concern. I don't even think unlicenced drivers are a serious concern. I just think it's more than reasonable to expect for our system to require ID to vote. Considering everything else you need ID for. They should just do voting in buildings you need ID to get into

I don't disagree. But yes. To be a good American citizen you should be all proud of your state ID

Wow...not just have one, but be "proud" of an ID? Is that where we're going? We take pride in the most mundane of shit? Whatever happened to being proud of actual accomplishments?
The very idea that one should take pride in government acknowledging ones name and existence is fundamentally fucked up. Government had no part in bringing me into existence nor giving me a name. It has no business deciding whether or not either of those are legitimate.

I mean that's what I got out of the American indoctrination. I think it's ridiculous too but all my time here has lead me to believe they want me to take having an ID super seriously and be proud of having it like it's some big part of my life. Also that I should be greatful I even get the opportunity to relinquish currency to get one.
Also i lived in texas 6 years. And that's the above x100

And apparently you bought into all of that. I was never indoctrinated like that, but even if I were, I can make my own decisions as an adult.

My ID is two addresses old still and I don't vote.

It’s Saturday morning in South Texas, and the corpse of a 60-something-year-old needs to get to a funeral home — specifically, a refrigerated truck behind a funeral home that’s run out of storage space. The deceased coronavirus patient goes in the back of the Escalade, and Lopez heads to retrieve a body from another hospital’s morgue.
These are the first jobs of the day — and far from the last. Lopez will pick up 16 bodies Saturday, wake up at 2 a.m. Sunday and transport 22 more, including a husband and wife both infected with the virus.

The truth almost always lays somewhere in the middle of two extreme viewpoints or opinions.
Maybe it isn't as bad as some would like us to believe and maybe we shouldn't be so brazenly bold about a virus we are just starting to learn about.

There have been plenty of discussion about asymptomatic carriers. They are one of the reasons why we need to wear masks, and why it is harder to control spread. Unlike many other respiratory virus, asymptomatic carriers are contagious. About 35% of cases are asymptomatic. That’s actually less than the 50% of flu cases that are without symptoms.
Also, asymptomatic does not mean you are not being harmed. Nearly 50% of people without symptoms actually have morbidities caused by the virus, like lower oxygen saturation and compromised lung function. Many so called asymptomatics would discover symptoms if they tried to exercise, for example.
I do think there are some misconceptions about this issue. A lot of people seem to believe most covid infections are asymptomatic. That is not the case at all. Most people will have symptoms. Most symptoms are mild, but 5-15% of people will require medical treatment and/or hospitalization. That is a tremendous number of people consuming medical resources at a tremendous rate.
There are over 60,000 people hospitalized right now with covid. Most of them will spend at least a week in hospital, which is costing someone between 1,000-5,000 a day. We’re talking about ~100 million dollars a day dealing with just the medical cost of the current situation, and that is growing.

Illinois just raised the penalty from simple battery to aggravated battery for anyone who attacks a retail worker or server for telling them they have to wear a mask. It's a $2500 fine. It's still not enough.

The Russian vaccine is here. Again, I'm not recommending it before long term testing is completed, but I think it is interesting news.

At this stage, weighing safe vs effective, it seems like a good idea to do a lot of human trials on it's effectiveness, if it's safe. They said Putin's daughter took it.

Putin already said that vaccination in Russia should only be carried out on a voluntary basis, with nobody forced to accept immunization.
