Which, when considering the rate of child fatalities in Florida, probably makes them somehow safer.

The way Florida is reporting their numbers is causing a significant undercount of daily deaths for the entire country.
There are likely 350 deaths a day in Florida, but they rarely report more than a dozen each day.
We are now seeing 2100+ deaths a day in the US.

Instead of just giving the number of deaths reported across the state the day before, they only reports deaths backdated to the actual day it occurred. Since almost none of the deaths reported will have happened that same day, Florida is only reporting a few deaths each day, while they are adding deaths to past days, backfilling their death toll.
Florida looks likes it’s in a perpetual state of a rapidly declining death count.

7even said: Uuuh... you ever heard of the saying its a dog eat dog world? If society is good why are shrooms illegal? Why does it enslave /overwork the masses, brainwash them , study and experiment on them like lab rats. Why do they sell water to us in plastic that pollutes the earth and when theres a climate crisis they blame it on who knows what? Or are you talking about the society in the middle east where the taliban strive? Yeah its cool to have some protection and to feel safe but you can also live in jail and prison where they constantly watch you and feed you 3 meals a day with a roof over your head. Is that the kind of society that you want? Because after 9/11 the patriot act already spies on anyone it wishes. Also you are now groped and searched for wanting to board a plane. And now with this virus shit they want to trace people. Maybe you dont mean that kind of society maybe you do but just be careful.

Go buy more $1 scratch of lottery tickets and keep listing to AM radio.
If they are groping you at the airport, I wish they had the kind of stewardesses they had back in the 60's and early 70's.

Why can't pedestrians run? I guess movement is easy to spot, but if I was supposed to bomb a town, I'd probably be aiming at, ya know, the bigass buildings, not some dude running down the street.

The idea was without any lights the Germans wouldn’t know where to aim.
All it would take was some asshole with his yard lit up to give them a target. I can’t imagine we could rely on everyone to do their part these days.

I will admit I don't know much about WWII era pedestrians, but for some reason I don't think even the greatest generation could run so fast they would spontaneously generate light.

When I was a kid my best friend was German. His mother lived through the war in Schweinfurt, where they had a lot of ball bearing factories and other critical industries. She said when you saw the bombs coming down they were taught to run towards them, not away from them, because they were coming down on an angle. IDK about the strategy but it was a strange story to hear when you're little.
But yeah, at night you don't want them to see anything so they were bombing blindly. Technology has come a long way since then.

I wonder why the Germans never decided to shell east coast cities.

just the invention of he proximity fuse was a game changer during the war. The ability to detonate an explosive when it got close to a target as opposed to actually hitting it.

They did have a happy time along the east coast.
Germany also focused a lot more on submarines, which while excellent shipkillers, make very poor artillery platforms.

I never realised until just now that Ireland was a neutral country during WW2... didn't stop them getting bombed though.

koods said: It’s weird how Britain’s Sky News is just about as right down the middle as you can get. You have a hard time identifying much bias at all in their content.
There's been a Senate Inquiry into Media Diversity going on here. Such is the public's contempt for Sky News that former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd launched a public petition calling for a Royal Commission to look at the stranglehold the Murdoch empire has on the tabloid press. It was signed by half a million concerned Australians including myself. It now holds the record for the most signatures on a public petition ever in this country.
Last week Sky News Aus CEO Paul(Boris) Whittaker fronted the Inquiry. Apparently YouTube deleted 23 videos posted with covid misinformation. Kevin Rudd put the total number of videos removed at 32, with Sky removing some themselves, but listening to Boris you'd have a hard time discerning that, he's a slippery eel.
This half baked news service is a primary reason Australia has lost any advantage we had as a nation keeping covid under control until vaccines could be rolled out.
Kevin Rudd points out that the Murdoch press now owns 100% of the news press in my home state and 70% across Australia, if it wasn't for the ABC we'd be living in a right wing dystopia. It's fucking wrong and it needs to change. We used to have media laws that didn't allow more than 50% ownership, and for good reason.
