Who said the pandemic would end when the vaccine came out. The pandemic ends when enough people get the vaccine that the virus cannot find enough people to infect and it dies out. That would clearly take months or more after vaccinations start.

This doesn’t mean the virus disappears. It means that one infection cannot lead to exponential growth

Exactly.

Natural herd immunity is being hampered by people isolating and masking themselves.

Why be concerned about how transmissible a virus is when it's being treated effectively with corticosteroids, vitamin C, zinc, etc, essentially driving mortality rates even lower.

How do people die from the flu?

BY ASHLEY WELCH

JANUARY 29, 2018 / 5:18 PM

"The United States is in the midst of a deadly flu season. The latest statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that 37 children have died so far this flu season, which began in October. The flu is currently widespread in 49 states, and doctors across the country continue to see more cases, more hospitalizations, and more deaths from influenza infections.

Over the past several weeks, deaths of Americans of all ages from the flu have made headlines. The family of 12-year-old Dylan Winnick, who died from the flu in Florida last week, said they were stunned by how quickly the virus took his life.

"No indications. No warnings. Just common cold. That's what's so scary about it," his stepfather Mike Medwin said.

"This happens because the flu virus injures the lungs and causes inflammation that then makes it easier for bacteria to invade the lungs and cause a very serious infection," Bocchini told CBS News. "The bacterial infection can make it hard for children to breathe, and their lungs struggle to get enough oxygen for their body."

Sepsis is another complication that can lead to death. It occurs when the body overreacts to an infection. Sepsis can affect multiple organ systems, sometimes causing organ failure and resulting in death.

Other rare complications from the flu that can be fatal include infection of the heart (or myocarditis) which can cause sudden death or heart failure, and infection of the brain (or encephalitis) which can lead to seizures and dangerous swelling of the brain.

If you develop flu-like symptoms, such as fever, body aches and fatigue, and you are at high risk for complications from the flu, it is important to see your doctor to ask if you should receive an antiviral medication such as Tamiflu (also available as generic oseltamivir), Relenza or Rapivab.

"There are antiviral medications that can be used to shorten the duration of illness as well as to help prevent complications from the flu," Bocchini said. "[u[Antiviral medications should be started early to have their best chance of helping."

I wonder if Relenza or Rapivab was tried as treatment for Covid?

More rabbit holes I suppose. Here I go.

Relenza Under Question

BY CBSNEWS.COM STAFF CBSNEWS.COM STAFF

JANUARY 31, 2002 / 8:41 AM / CBS

In the next few months, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) plans to carefully monitor adverse events related to Relenza. Although the drug has only been in the market for less than 2 years, government officials have already recorded 23 deaths that may be related to its use. No conclusive link between the fatalities and the drug have been shown, but officials say they will still carefully watch the medicine over the next few months.

Consumer advocate Sidney Wolfe, MD, still insists Relenza should never have been put on the market in the first place because, he says, it's never been proven to work. "This drug was found to be so ineffective that the advisory committee that looked at the data voted 13-4 not to [approve] the drug... and yet they were overruled because of pressure from the company and other people higher up in the FDA."

FDA officials say they approved Relenza, because even a small benefit could be very important."

Huh. . .

Not looking very promising here.

Tamiflu and Relenza review questions effectiveness against flu

Written by Honor Whiteman on April 10, 2014
Tamiflu and Relenza are drugs commonly used for the prevention and treatment of influenza in adults and children. Past research has hailed the drugs for reducing hospital admissions and complications as a result of the virus. But in the latest Cochrane Review, recently published in the BMJ, researchers say there is no solid evidence to support such claims.

In 2009, Cochrane researchers looked to verify the safety and effectiveness of neuraminidase inhibitors. However, drug manufacturers refused to provide full access to clinical trial data of the drugs, which hindered their efforts.

This raised questions as to whether the risks and benefits of influenza antivirals have been accurately reported, and whether they should be stockpiled for the treatment of seasonal and pandemic flu in children and adults.

In 2012, Medical News Today reported on a story detailing how the BMJ were putting pressure on Roche – the manufacturers of Tamiflu – to release trial data for the drug.

Having now gained access to original clinical trial data, the researchers were able to analyze 20 full internal reports on the effects of Tamiflu and 26 reports on the effects of Relenza. In total, the reports included more than 24,000 people.

Furthermore, the team found that Tamiflu stopped some people from producing enough of their own antibodies to fight flu infection.

Commenting on these findings, Dr. David Tovey, editor in chief at Cochrane, says:

“Initially thought to reduce hospitalizations and serious complications from influenza, the review highlights that Tamiflu is not proven to do this, and it also seems to lead to harmful effects that were not fully reported in the original publications. This shows the importance of ensuring that trial data are transparent and accessible.”

Results were similar for Relenza. The drug was found to reduce the duration of flu symptoms from 6.6 days to 6 days in adults – the equivalent of 14.4 hours – compared with a placebo drug. No significant effect was found in children.

The team found no evidence that Relenza reduces the risk of flu complications or risk of hospitalization."

Well, we can scrap those for potential treatment.

Yes, natural herd immunity is being hampered by distancing and masking. The benefit is less deaths and cases of permanent physical impairment. Why not follow the guidelines for several more months and most of the pandemic is eliminated through "unnnatural"  herd immunity through vaccination?

Similar to how influenza has been handled for decades?

Minus the mask and widespread business closures. Schools have previously been closed for influenza outbreaks. Temporarily.

Several more months, eh? Like, until this flu season is over and summer 2021 is upon us, still wearing masks and who knows how many unemployed and homeless?

All in the name of public health, governors like Gavin Newsome and Andrew Cuomo are DESTROYING what once were large economic contributors.

While Florida is at 100% operational capacity, since September 25th. And they got lots of old folks. They move there to retire and die.

Edit;

And to think of how much waste is being produced. Millions of swabs. Millions of test tubes. Millions of samples run. Millions of fucking mask, CLOGGING UP OUR OCEANS!!!

This is just about the stupidest thing you’ve said yet.

Reaching herd immunity naturally is a psychopathic plan. Do you have any fucking clue what is happening in hospitals across this country? It absolute chaos. Healthcare workers are at the breaking point. What the fuck is wrong with you?

The flu shot has around 50% effectiveness. The covid ones are approaching 95%. The flu shot is different every year and they take educated guesses on what strain they're trying to protect against well before the flu season begins. So far they believe the covid vaccine will be effective against the mutated strains. It's not the flu.

Thank you for your concern for our oceans, but bottled water is a much bigger problem. I think most of the masks are biodegradable.

today manufactured using non-woven fabrics made from plastics like polypropylene

Plastic mask.

These coronavirus vaccines are not all using the same tech.

They're adding more variants of influenza to flu shots.

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/prevent/quadrivalent.htm

"Most flu vaccine in the United States is now quadrivalent. Of the 194 to 198 million doses of flu vaccine projected to be available for the 2020-2021 season, manufacturers estimate that 99% of doses (195 million) will be quadrivalent flu vaccine.

Are quadrivalent flu vaccines safe?
Yes. Flu vaccines that protect against four flu viruses have a safety profile similar to seasonal flu vaccines made to protect against three viruses, with similar—mostly mild—side effects. Like all seasonal flu vaccines, vaccines that protect against four flu viruses are monitored annually for their safety and effectiveness.

Quadrivalent vaccine cannot cause flu illness because they contain ‘inactivated’ (killed) virus, attenuated (weakened) virus, or are made using recombinant methods that don’t use flu virus in the manufacturing process."

Fluzone High-Dose Quadrivalent contains four times the antigen, the part of the vaccine that helps your body build up protection against flu viruses, then Fluzone Quadrivalent and other standard-dose inactivated flu vaccines. Both are quadrivalent vaccines. The higher dose of antigen in the vaccine is intended to give older people a better immune response, and therefore, better protection against flu. Both these products are flu vaccines produced by the same manufacturer. There are a number of other flu vaccines produced by other manufacturers.

People over 65 have a special flu shot with more virus, or adjuvants.

There was an interview on the ABC today with a Dr from Aus who is helping out in L.A. ... not sure when or how he got there but he said he was amongst other Drs who have been asked to come out of retirement to help.
He was saying that the I.C.U.'s are full, the Emergency wards are full, and there's an 8hr wait to get an ambulance.
He said the next wave is coming in 3-4 weeks time and that because he is not yet up to speed with the logistics, procedures etc he is trying to assist younger Dr's and expects he will most likely be assisting palliative care patients as they die.
When aske how he felt he said he is terrified.

Just checked the ABC channel, the interview was uploaded earlier.

Russia was apparently fudging the numbers a bit. Quite a bit.

We are doing a shit job on the vaccine logistics. Pfizer said they were sitting on millions of doses awaiting instructions from the federal government.
