your cat is a vector for CoronaV
    #26551550 - 03/22/20 06:36 PM (3 years, 10 months ago)

This seems to have killed another thread, so I'll ask again. Poll.

The cat you're unwittingly dripping virus all over while it sits purring on your lap, is a vector for transmission to any cat loving neighbours that might pet it when it visits their garden.

How would you pet keepers react if the government, realising that cats, and dogs, were vectors for transmission, ordered the destruction of all such pets.

Edit Poll meant to read "take my pooch".
You allow your pets destruction
You may choose only one

I'd just set them free in the woods with 1000 pounds of food near a stream and water source with a cave, to live out their lives and form a new society of forsaken human animals.

To become TRUE cat's again.

Not some domesticated whores to the human pimp pet owners.

I voted stal because your hypothesis assumes cats and dogs are vectors for COVID 19.  Is there any scientific literature that confirms this?  If it were true, and, if my animal were infected by me, why not just see if it makes it through?  Would the government require me to put it down?  I don't know, man.  I think my response would be specific to a multitude of variables.

I don't need no stinking "scientific literature" I use logic.
A dog maybe less so, but the cat that is kissed, cuddled and generally slathered with virus, by an as yet undiagnosed carrier, is a potential vector of transmition to an unsuspecting neighbour. It doesn't need to be infected to act as a vector, contaminated is enough. Unless you think that cats furr somehow acts as an antiviral.

How long does the virus survive on the fur?  Are we also assuming the animal could not be quarantined for some unknown reason?  Again, more questions.

How long is a piece of string.
How long does it take for your (edit. contaminated) cat to jump from your lap to get to a cat friendly neighbour?

Do you quarantine your cat after you've petted it on your lap? :wtf:

Nah, I say let the pets live.  There's no reason to kill them.

Edit: This is the second post in the last week I've responded to that relates to COVID, and which more or less gives an ultimatum about killing other life forms.  At least we are not talking about killing humans in this thread, unlike the other one.  But I do understand why you would ask this question, especially if you are a pet owner.

I think telling people to keep their cats inside if they are infected would go farther in reducing exposure than developing, maintaining and training a group of door to door cat euthanizers.

Probably, but who is telling people to quarantine their cat's. Nonone that I've heard so far has even mentioned it in passing.

What is absurd is how you can so dramatically miss the fekin point!
If you don't know that you are infected, assuming you have heard that people can carry this virus without showing any sign of it, they won't be thinking of quarantining their fekin cats!

Dude, many things are vectors for COVID.  Anything an infected person who is asymptomatic comes into contact with is a possible source of infection: hard surfaces, soft surfaces, just breathing in a confined space.  Should we destroy anything an infected person comes into contact with?  Or is that you simply like the idea of killing animals unnecessarily?  The fear is real in you, man.

I still think I'd set the cats free, which wasn't an option.

But I'd do it in a field of mice if I didn't have 1000 pounds of animal feed.:themoreyouknow:

If I had to put them down and didn't have a gun, I'd wait until I had a proper weapon, and that by that point the cat's to be put to death would have eaten me alive.

It's life cycle rolls

Since this shit has went down we've now had the idea to let all the old people die and now it's time to wipe out pet cats

It'll be interesting to see what idea is next

The death penalty for human-to-human contact?  It's insane how irrational people become when they are afraid.  Or is it they were always irrational but good at concealing it until a time of crisis?

Ok So if you found the DEMON responsible for the virus, the cure would be there.

Old religion tells of the cause of sickness and the cure.

The only way is to kill the "demon " responsible.

And it's not China.

The DEMON is society.

By that logic, we should just cull a bunch of humans because humans are the primary vector right now

I do believe society should be restructured.  Maybe the way to kill the "demon" is to change the way in which society is structured, for the better.  But that will never happen.
