I agree with everyone else. Your first flush was overly wet.

Pick up the container if it feel light like a piece of styrofoam that size would it needs misting. But I am afraid you have been erring on the side of overhydration which can stall and even invite contamination. The more flushes you get the further your mycelium weakens.

Let it dry out for a few days with good FAE and it should start to form pins again.

Hello,

It's now been 5 days since I have stopped misting and this is how my cake looks like. I think it doesn't seem dry, but not moist either. And there still isn't any pins :frown: Do you think I should start mist now?

I can't research or read about this topic on the forum, because that poked filter bag is not relevant after all. So I am not sure whether it's getting good FAE or not. This is why I am fucking confused. As a reminder, this is how my fruiting bag is:

What do you think I should do? Mist or not?

Again, how heavy does the container feel? Does it feel like a hard back book or an empty cereal box? That will tell you roughly where your moisture level is.

Mist if you want to but It is hard to tell from the picture because we can only see a caseing layer. I don't see mycelium creeping up so that leads me to think it is still to wet.

Here are the pictures of my cake:

And no, it doesnt weight very light. But how else can I know if the substrate is wet or not. Most importantly, how can I get rid off the fucking excess moisture, using hair dryer?

That thing looks all bacterial my friend. It was definitely on the wet side on your first flush pictures.

That quote from RR may have been about someone’s PF tek grow which is different than what you have. Misting is only needed when the substrate is dry. For cubes I believe fresh air is more important than humidity. Not that you can just grow them open air in the desert but I did plenty of outdoor grows with just whatever the summer humidity was and tons of fresh air. Everyone did great. I’ve done an indoor open air as well that went great.

I know kits seem easier but they are so often lackluster if not outright criminal. That one looks to have a layer of perlite under the substrate? Which is a very nonstandard move

That was my thought as well, but I'm hardly an authority. On the first three pics, the upper 50% looks bacterial, contaminated, whatever. And in the final pic, damn near the whole thing looks bad.
