Conditions for grow kit

Hi I have decided to go with getting a mushroom grow kit. I plan to put it in a SGFC to minimize the time I have to mist. I got a 600ml grow kit. How tall does the SGFC have to be does anyone know?
Also can anyone give me advice on getting a good yeild from the grow kit. Would it help to cover the mycelium in vermiculite before it goes into the SGFC?
Also I plan to take the mycelium out of the box itself and place it on the lid so mushroom dont grow inbetween the grow box and the mycelium. Does it matter what side i place the mycelium down on? Do the mushrooms only grow from one side of the mycelium?

I was going to go with pf tek but i only have a very short time period to do the grow and it will take too long to colonize so grow kit is my only option.

Short period of time and growing mushrooms really dont belong in the same Head space. You need to do a lot more reading on these teks to understand The dynamics of everything involved. It's not gonna work in some set window Time frame even with a kit unfortunately

Hahaha yeah but a chamber that size would do better with multiple kits close together.
Grow kit will take the same time unless you’re getting a pre colonized one.
I’d stick to the directions that come with it.
Also SGFC will for sure require more maintenance than the bag or tub it comes in.

Nobody is attacking him. We just know that grow kits suck. Not because of the idea, but all most all the time they are provided with shit instructions. Growkits can be awesome if you use all the supplies and do it right

I plan to do the grow in a house where I dont stay on a regular basis. I come back to the house every 2/3 days for a couple hours. So a usual grow kit bag will not work as you have to air it out and mist everyday.
So my plan is to use a tote with wet vermiculite at the bottom with the grow kit inside with holes drilled in the side to allow for airflow. Hopefully this means I wont have to mist and air it out.
Will this not work?

Honestly, if its colonized already in a bag, I would use that to make shoe boxes.
Get some coir and mix it up in to the shoeboxes. Follow Bods tek

no matter what it is if you cant give it the proper attention it needs its gnna for certain be a waste of time effort and $. its basicly already a shoebox of brf that may or may not be mycelium. i lean more twd mycelium with bacteria and prolly a lil mold in there. that seems to be what they usually produce. however you can get a few fruits out of them if they dont totally contam out before they pin but the only way you will get anything at all is if you give it the proper attention and provide the environmental conditions needed to produce mushrooms. sadly that bag is prolly the best bet for you. that thing you have is basicly a pf tek brick and i promise you if you put it in a sgfc and only devote said time to it your better off using the chamber i posted a pic of. not tryin be be harsh or anything its just that we get this question once or twice a week anymore and we know what those things produce is all. so my final advice then is the bag with a few slits in it for some fae and maybe add in a lil hope with some prayers 🤷🏼🤷🏼 or dubtub it

It looks like this assuming the grow was sucessful. My plan was to take the mycelium out of this box at the start of the grow and place it in a SGFC on a sheet of tinfoil so the mycelium is not touching the perlite.

If u have only one grow kit, then i would suggest just fruiting inside a large clear plastic trash bag with wet perlite at the bottom.
If u have several grow kits, then yeah build a SGFC. Fill half way with perlite is best in my experience.

thanks for this information.
I want to avoid pins forming between the cake and the side of the box it comes in. The best way to do this I guess would be to remove the cake from the grow box itself. I plan to do this with a knife. However do you know if removing the cake from the box could increase the chance of contamination or damage the mycelium?

I wouldn’t worry about side pins they do alright smashed against the sides.
I’d also say look into shoebox style grows which is basically what the kit is. If you can get a lid for it or maybe put a piece of plastic over it with some holes it should be fine.
When I do shoeboxes I usually don’t have to do anything to them for at least 10 days.

If it is fully colonized flip upside down and give it a light Pat with your hand. It will come out in one piece. I agree fruit it in a bag. Just set tray in a large bag. Paper clip the top so you can mist as needed and poke some holes in the top of the bag for gas exchange.

but i think the mushrooms always grow from the surface where the box opens up and not the bottom surface so would it still be a good idea to put the cake upside down?
is it ok if i put wet perlite in the plastic bag and set the kit up on top on that on the lid?
thanks for your reply

then wtf are u worried about????? they will grow all over the place anyway if they grow at all. cuz u sure as shit aint gnna get a canopy with that thing tending to it the way you describe you will be. with those kits id consider yourself lucky to even get side pins. kits r like buying a scratch off lottery ticket. a cpl winners and a whole fuckin shit ton of losers. put it in the bag as described and hope and pray for the best. if your serious about cultivation then study proper teks from proven growers on this site. there is more information than you can even imagine compiled here. you just have to look for it.
