Done quite a bit of reading and have found mixed opinions on if it is worth doing brf to bulk to maximize yield
any opinions on this?

Probably gonna get the same thing here. Mixed opinions. Personally I wouldn't bother trying to go bulk with cakes when grains are so much better at it and easier to work with IMO. Cakes are just a way to fruit a MS syringe and get something to clone to agar or to munch on for personal use...also just my opinion.

If you’re really good at cakes it might be similar but I think it’s much easier to get max yield off a shoebox.
But yeah might as well use grain unless you don’t have a pc.

i decided to do bulk instead of cakes when i was using BRF pucks. cakes seem like a pain in the ass. just break em up & mix them w coir in a shoebox. takes up way less room, is easier to move & take care of, & will give you plenty of fruits if you don’t fuck it up too bad. dunno how the yields compare but also people do bulk over cakes for a reason

If your doing cakes already go for a shoebox. I personally could yield shit in a sgfc. Don't expect crazy yields but I had better luck that way

Thanks for the replies, I currently have 7 fully colonized half pint jars think I'm going to try shoeboxes with coir verm. What ratio do you guys suggest in terms of how much brf spawn to coir

I’d do probably 4-5 cakes into a shoebox then add enough coir to get the sub as deep as you want it.
The sterilite tubs have a line on the side I usually try to get within half an inch of that.
With 7 cakes maybe 3.5 to two shoeboxes, or all in one if you’re willing to risk it.
Or 5 in a shoebox and two as cakes so you can fully appreciate how awesome shoeboxes are when they’re both done.
