The Shroomery FAQ - Trip Music comment

Hi people,
Finished my chores for today, got a couple of hours to kill, on my own, so have had a joint and have been browsing through The Shroomery FAQ. One FAQ is what music is good to trip to.
So here’s my question; Hawkwind is not in the fairly long list. I was surprised, because I broke my tripping teeth to Hawkwind. As well as Pink Floyd, who are on the list. So what are your thoughts? Check out The Shroomery FAQ Trip Music.
Who’s on there that surprises you? Who’s not on there that surprises you?
❤️ DJ Ed

Good question. I've had some excellent excellent excellent experiences listening to Motown and soul hits while on LSD. Marvin Gaye, Al Greene, Isley Brothers, Temptations, Gladys Knight, etc. It's just pure emotion and the music that can sometimes sound a little dated and old is revealed to be full of life and the vocals take on an otherworldly character. Highly recommend giving some 1960s-1970s soul, R&B and Motown a shot!

No idea. That list is inadequate in so many ways - neither does it list Steve Hillage, who is one of the all time spaciest guitarists. Check out anything, but start with "Fish Rising" to see what I mean.

Music with good atmosphere is very good for tripping I have found. If you're into modern music The Weeknd is really good for this, trilogy and kiss land and after hours (descending order of goodness) are amazing. If you're into older music, The Beatles' Rubber Soul, Sgt Pepper's and Revolver are really nice and atmospheric too. Led Zeppelin too

You're right that Pink Floyd is incredible. I listened through Dark Side of the Moon for the first time on my first trip... unbelievable!

I reckon Dark Side was written for mushrooms! As well as Meddle.
Hawkwind _Space Ritual is Hawkwinds live 2 hour extravaganza. This is one of my favourite all time albums - it is like you’re in the audience at a Hawkwind festival.
For the last few years I’ve been heavily influenced by Shpongle, and more recently Simon Posford’s Hallucinogen. Taking a huge liking also to 1200 Micrograms, and Infected Mushroom.
I’ve also got the Johns Hopkins playlist on Spotify, but not done that one yet.......
I’ll have to check out some Motown, and a few others mentioned above. Cheers all.

Check out Ozric Tentacles! They are on the list, but they are a huge influence to the Shpongle's sound with all the bubbles and bleeps. Also from the UK so it makes sense Simon was listening to them. Albums to consider: Technicians Of The Sacred, Paper Monkeys and Sliding Gliding Worlds
One artist not on the page is Oneohtrix Point Never. I tripped balls yesterday and it hit the spot for when things were starting to come on hard. It's ambient/experimental sounds with top notch production (Simon listens to OPN too ha). There's usually no drums with a back beat, just spacey ambient goodness. Songs to start with for his more ambient leaning stuff: Physical Memory, Immanence, Ships Without Meaning, Suite From Magnetic Rose
