1st grow, little concerned, help?
    #26547877 - 03/21/20 12:25 AM (3 years, 10 months ago)

Hello guys and gals đź‘‹
This is my first grow ever. I started this journey way before finding this place so my ideas and thoughts have change quiet few times since I started reading numerous posts on here. So much great info on here, THANKS.

Started with 4 MS syringes, b+, gt, PESH, and APE. I figured out in the future I'm going with agar. Possibly clone my next run. But definitely get some spore prints from this run.
Inoculated rye berry bags to full 100% colonization. No rush and plenty of patience over here.
Spawned the rye to manure based substrate, once again waited to 100% colonization, didn't rush anything.
Cased it and waited till mycelium was peeking thru.
Fruiting conditions, SGFC, with 4 inches of perlite, siting under a skylight, supplemented by ceiling lights, space heater set at 76, mist once in the am and once in the pm.
So I'm on day 9 of fruiting right now, first pins popped up about 3-3.5 days ago. Plenty of pins.

My concern is all my caps have white on top, am I doing something wrong? What can I do or what should I do? Or am I just freaking out.
Sporeworks, shroomsupply, and Walmart is what is all involved.

Thanks!!!

They look fine, IMHO.
A little more water seems to be necessary. Give them a mist or so. Don’t soak them.
You’re looking good brother, keep it up.

Also, temperatures, RH and lighting would help us tell you what’s right or wrong.

The white you're seeing on the caps is something called the universal veil. It is a membrane that protects the pin in its beginning stages. It's kind if like the veil that protects the gills until it fully opens. It is completely normal and nothing to worry about. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the info, I didn't know if I was misting them to much or the RH was to low, OR.... that makes me feel better.

We don’t know you’re misting schedule nor fanning. So how could we inform you?

I'm sorry, maybe I misworded it or didn't use the right terms in my first post. Newbie.
But I think it's all mentioned in first post.

I mist in the am and pm.
It's sitting in a SGFC so I thought that's plenty of FAE, is fanning still required?
I do take them out daily to take the perlite into the sink and hose it down daily.
Lighting is minimal, sitting under a skylight, ambient lighting I guess, and I keep my regular ceiling light on, it's daylight bulbs but highly doubt 6500k.
I have a space heater in the room set to 76.

Please let me know if I missed something

If you dont mind me asking, what makes you say that it needs a little more water? I keep my stuff on the dryer side but it definitely looks plenty wet to me. Not trying to contradict, just curious.

You should fan, even though its in a SGFC.

It’s just the way the trays appear to me, as far as maybe needing a touch more water.
A good misting, IMHO.
