Deciding between grains

So I just visited several feed stores looking for grains. The options appear to be flax seed, peas, soybeans, birdseed with sunflowers in it, birdseed with thistle seeds (nyger) grassseed mix with ryegrass, fescue, and orchard grass
There's also wheat or barley available about a half hour further away.
I don't relish the thought of picking sunflowers out of the birdseed and the nyger one is expensive (plus I haven't seen anyone using thistle seed) should I go the extra half hour to get wheat or barley? Or would the grassseed mix or the flax or peas or beans work?

Sunflower seeds will typically float right away, before they absorb water so you can usually scoop them out and stir the seed to mix up and that are trapped.
I personally now use whole oats, $15 for a 50 lb bag that will make probably around 100 quart jars and I do bod’s no soak grain prep. They come out a little “stickier” than I would prefer but it’s not much of an issue, certainly outweighs the hassle of soaking grains in my situation.

Link to my WBS tek
I’ve never removed sunflower seeds. They’re fine. UTSF and see plenty of grows on strait SFS. They actually add nutrition. The one thing I will never use is cracked corn

That’s terrible advice. Stop. Rinse and soak are necessary. Stop taking short cuts. Besides, that takes 15 minutes. If you’re looking for a shortcut, show me how to PC my grains in 15 minutes.

Shop around online see if anyone has a free shipping on orders over so much spending thing going on
Or if you have a local food co-op they can order you 50lb bags tell em you're using it for fermenting.

We were talking about Rinse and soaking, BODs only has you boil of course which is necessary soaking is not necessary and waste time, Rinsing is only necessary on dirtier grains such as some WBS. My recommendation you it’s keep your mouth shut when someone provides evidence that your careless with your criticism. Would post advice unless have had success with it.
