Chicken of the woods in a barrel with cold fermentation?
    #26547398 - 03/20/20 07:06 PM (3 years, 10 months ago)

I'm interested in trying out something like this for chicken of the woods:

Is there any to think that it wouldn't work for chicken of the woods?

Have you read any of the threads on here where people have been successful fruiting COTW?

I'm not up on the current successful methods being used, but fruiting them is a bit different than some oysters.  Check out this thread.

I've read a lot of threads on it (including the one you linked) + that research article everyone mentions when discussing indoor COW fruiting and came to the conclusion that growing indoors was likely to fail or be disappointing. I was hoping someone had succeeded in growing them outdoors, but on fermented wood chips. Mostly because logs reportedly takes forever. I guess maybe I was hoping that the wood chips in a barrel was a quicker option than logs and more reliable than growing indoors.

It may be!  Like I said I'm not an expert on it, and you've clearly done some research so it may be worth a try
Keep us updated if you decide to give it a shot.
