A Few Pics From a Hike
    #26547110 - 03/20/20 04:37 PM (3 years, 10 months ago)

Wen't on a hike the other day through the north Georgia mountains and I have a few pis  that I'd like to share.

I'm pretty sure these are an Auricularia sp. Let me know if I'm right. Also a couple bonus Turkey Tail

More turkey Tail. These were huge, I wish I included something for scale.

Tremella sp.

Coprinellus sp. On a side note has anyone tried cultivating these? I was thinking about cloning one and giving it a shot.

I wasn't able to get an ID on these, but they were really beautiful. I found a few Mycena sp. that looked similar, but none really fit perfectly. The substrate was exclusively rhododendron twigs and leaves.

Also my LBM ID skills definitely need some fine tuning because I wasn't able to get an ID on this was either. I was thinking some kind of Pholiota sp.?

I think the 'turkey tail' is Stereum ostrea, and by extension, the Auricularia is Phaeotremella frondosa parasitizing the Stereum. cool find!

If that Tremella is growing on conifer (which it looks like it might be), then it is probably Dacrymyces chrysospermus

Third looks like Coprinellus micaceus

The skinny ones are probably a Marasmius spp. There are many. May be
Marasmius rhododendrorum but it is difficult to find info on that one.

What was the substrate for the LBM? Pholiota grows from wood. But from the photo it looks like an Entoloma sp but im not sure. Entoloma grows from the ground. A spore print would narrow it down as well.

Looks like Stereum and Auricularia species.
