More PE shoebox questions/drain a little myc piss?

This is in reference to an existing PE thread I started, but a different question:
The PE shoebox is blobbing away, and I notice that the sub is awash in myc piss. Would draining off the excess liquid be a mistake? I'm sure I can safely tilt the box to drain most of the liquid out. After the 1st blob/flush, can a minor 'temperature shock' down to 55°F for a few hours trigger non-blob pins?
Here's a new pic of my blob factory:
Yes, it looks a bit dry, but I'm misting at least 2x/day, and fanning. Thanks

Id stop fanning it if its drying out like that.

So, what do I do with all the myc piss in the bottom? Looks like at least 1 cup, probably more. If the liquid is drained, I can mist without drowning them. Also, a few of the blobs are good size, so might harvest a few.
Drain the piss, then soak for a few hours/drain again?

Is there a casing on that? what is is? If you have a cup of liquid in the bottom that isn't absorbed by the substrate then definitely drain it. No need to soak it if it won't soak up the liquid that is already there.

The casing was moist coir, all colonized now. I'll go drain it. Thanks!

No problem. You usually need a real casing of pasteurized Peat/Verm/Lime or Jiffy Mix for PE's to prevent blobs. The mycelium will just eat through coco.

What the heck is Jiffy Mix, and is it sold under some other name? Would TrueValue or walmart have it?

The myc isn't going to eat the jiffy mix casing?

I drained the fluid from the shoebox, and was amazed that only an ounce came out. So, I'm hydrating & fanning, and putting a 0.5" layer of jiffy mix casing on very shortly. Also picked a few blobs, ~9.5 grams, wet. Fingers crossed!

DANG! I was just about to start bitchin' about this PE shoebox being a lost cause, went to check it, and lo & behold, the first little mush dicks are just starting to push through the new, wet jiffy mix casing!

Thanks--now lie to me and tell me that these are the first of a massive flush!
I have to wonder what would have happened if I'd left the largest blobs in place instead of picking them?🤔🤔🤔

Beats me...but they say that blobs are regarded as the typical 'first flush' of this strain. I'm making another mini-tub of PE today from a fresh brf, and will eventually case it without harvesting any blobs at all. I'm wondering if these blobs could be the source of greater yields?

The blobs get soft when they are ready like a normal forming fruits. I don't know why, but the casing helps the shrooms pin normally.

Some blobs get massive, like baseball sized. Mine have always been between marble and egg size though.
Some people think blobbing is connected to high nutrients which is why they say to let it consolidate before fruiting so it can eat some of the excess up. I guess it makes sense seeing as it’s usually rare after the first flush.

Mine are chick pea sized, so far. Faht--thanks for the link. I'll put as many ideas as I can into practice. I'm letting the casing surface dry between misting, fanning, etc....hard to tell ezactly what the grow is planning to do...

Well, it's not exactly a canopy, but 'tis enough! 5 dicks coming through as of yesterday morning. The 'void' on one end is doing something, bc the casing surface is looking chopped up, and from the side the myc looks pretty solid. Patience....
