PSA for Canadians needing jar filters wanting felt.

Couldn't find anything regarding it but there is old posts about using EZ felt for filters. When I used to cultivate tyvek was the score so I thought I'd give felt a try.

Couldn't find what I was looking for anywhere until I went to Fabricland, don't just ask for felt though ask for "beading felt"
1 meter square for $11 more than enough to make a few years worth of filters.

RTV'd it over holes in my jars, PC'd it fine. No contamination on my grain jars inoculated with MS and my test jar of honey LC and some agar 125ml jars with 1/4 GE holes and filter have no contamination after five days.

I have been cutting diamonds with a scalpel but Michaels cells a thick material circle punch for $15 so gonna grab that tomorrow.

SFDs and syringe filters are probably the best but for the homegamer not doing LCs and just keeping it cheap beading felt at Fabricland can't be beat.

Yeah these different substitutes can work. Getting a clean culture on
agar is definitely your best route. LC is generally stayed away from
because it can be contaminated and you can't tell by looking at it.

SFDs are definitely the way to go and they're only $1 each for completely
omitting that variable from your work.
