Licorice is incredible 5

No other food i know of has such strong lover vs hater ratio. Seems like it's a minority of people that fall in between. (just for clarification purposes i'm referring to black licorice. All other sorts are a different category of confectionery.)
Personally i funking love licorice. Any other licorice lovers here? I live in Australia and Daryll Lea used to completely smash any competition. These day their licorice is half as long as it uses to be and more chewy. I've switched brands to 'Licorice Lovers'. I prefer it due to the texture but it's a more aniseed flavour.
On another note, i don't mind sated licorice by the way but t needs to be moderation. I can't smash a bag of that stuff like i have seen another guy do. From what i've experience salted licorice is usually a very hard variety too. That hard texture is a huge put off to me.

In the UK i rember these Haribo like bags of licorice squares and rectangles and stuff, some of it was pink or white but mostly black. Anyway, it's so terrible, I can't understand how it can be enjoyed.

It's ok. I don't love it but I don't detest it either. Having a liking for the taste does help with the consumption of absinthe.

I absolutely hate black licorice.
My roommate is a 'jagermeister girl' in addition to her regular day job and a few weeks ago she brought home the most disgusting bottle of cold brew coffee jager that is still sitting in our freezer. Even she tapped out and she ordinarily loves that shit. I normally love coffee flavored things, but coffee and licorice? Wtf were they smoking and where can I get some?

These are pretty good, they took the only type of thing in "licorice allsorts" that is any good (clear licorice gummies with candy balls on the outside, no coconut stuff anywhere) and sell a bag of just those.

The worst are those licorice gummies that are just salty instead of sweet. I think they might be a Dutch thing or something. Just horrible.

I only like red licorice. Black licorice is way too strong for my liking. But then again, some people LOVE IPA beer, but i cant stand the drink!

I used to love the fruit flavored rainbox licorices, red is good too. Black is okay but not my favorite
I wonder if there are like licorice purists, who look down on people who don't eat purely black licorice? Licorice connoisseurs

Red (and *any colour/flavour licorice) is a commercial con on the public so that licorice lovers can buy pseudo licorice for their partner to justify their own purchase of real licrice... Just to be clear, i am not saying that 'other flavours of licorice' are bad. In fact i am very fond of the raspberry variant. What i am saying is that they're not real licorice. They're confectionery pacifiers for the haters whom developed relationships with real licorice lovers. Seriously no one goes out of their way to buy non-black licorice.

You mean licorice root. It's a natural expectorant, it loosens phlegm and mucus. Traditionally you'd just chew the root but it's good as a tea as well. Particularly with peppermint.
As for the candy though, Basset's hard licorice sticks are by far the best. So hard that your jaw aches after chewing one. It's candy for masochists

Guys, its a home remedy of course, but black licorice has slight anti-COVID activity on account that its licorice extract has antiviral effects.

Just like champagne is best drank French, Dutch licorice is the best. The Dutch are THE licorice country.
We have dozens of kinds.
My favorite is honey licorice.

Very cool. I was wondering if any plants out there have any anti-viral properties. Blueberries maybe?
