Need ID on these please

Hi, I'm new to mycology in general, but I am really interested. I found these growing in my garden bed in Southern California near LA. It's been raining a lot here. Thank you for helping me! I'm curious if they are edible or have psychedelic qualities.

I'd say cinctulus as well. Or something closely related.

Yeah, I agree with ^ and ^ above. I will add that finding a psychoactive Panaeolus species in CA is impossible unless you just had horses or other livestock delivered from a location in the southeast; Loisianna, Flo4rida etc. And then and only then would it show up in the discarded bedding material (your compost dump) kind of thing. P.S. Don't eat stuff w/o a POSITIVE ID. Very bad idea! Peace bro...

Panaeolus cinctulus has a world wide distribution. It's the world's most widely distributed magic mushroom. It's found in California. It's found in Mexico and in Canada. No livestock import needed.

Thanks for the link. It was in formative. But Pan cinc. is not a psychoactive species which is what I stated in my Re: to the OP. If you ever find a psychoactive panaeolus species growing in S California that wasn't imported from the S.E. then I will sh*t my pants for sure. If there has ever been an indigenous psychoactive shroom in So Cal I have never heard of it. San Fran and + - has Psilo Cyans that I know of, but those are cold weather shrooms.

Panaeolus cinctulus is psychoactive. It's native. And tolerates way colder weather than panaeolus cyanescens. It's found north of the polar circle, but also in the tropics. Panaeolus cyanescens is a tropical/subtropical species. Sure you're not mixing these two?

At this point of the day (night), I'm not sure what I'm confusing lol! Where I was confusing the situation (my post) is that I lived in San Fran, Los Ang, and San Diego at different points in my life. I have always had an interest in the flora and mycoflora regardless of wwhere I hanged my hat. In my travels, I have never ever heard of a 'find' in So. Cal. The last time I was there, the 'word' was that the shroomies came from 'frisco'. Frisco is a derogatory term lol.
When I was living in San diego (only 2 months) it was a real chorer justr to get Oyster mushies to grow with an almost constant mist falling on the logs (not native wood). The peeps I was living with were sympathetic to the 'Active' principles we are here discussing. Noone I met there has ever mentioned a collection of ANY kind of shrooms, much less ACTIVE ones.
Pan cincs in So Cal? Maybe. I'm all ears. Peace friend.

Haha. Didn't know "Frisco" was concidered derogatory 😅 On the map in the first link there's some finds near San Diego. But they might be uncommon there, I don't know. Not many are hunting for cinctulus anyway, so one doesn't hear much about them. Peace 🍄

Much agreed . I would like to see someone produce a mushroom of ANY species that growes in So. Cal. or there abouts. Am I being an asshole? I feel like I might be coming off as an asshole lol! Well WTF! The last time I was in So. Ca. (not very long ago) people were running from their lives becvause of possible fire. So. Ca. is a dry place. Shroomies of any kind need water. I have never ever seen one mushroom of any sort grow in So. Cal. The only microbial life I ever saw out southwest was mold growing in my bathroom because that is where the moisture is/was from showering etc. Other than that...dry death...

There Are Mushrooms & Other Fungi That Grow In The Desert, Which Is Dryer Than California. There Are Plenty Of Mushrooms All Over California. Morels Love To Grow In Recently Burned Areas.
