People trying to explain trips to others is annoying?

I feel as though people like Joe Rogan who really go in depth about what a trip is like just makes us look silly, why even try to explain the unexplainable? I tell people it's life changing and they should try it but I dont go in depth about how it is a parallel universe to god and we get the more access to our thoughts and blah blah blah... that shit gets annoying because they just sound like schizos.

You have a point that it's completely impossible to describe what tripping is like but it's still worth trying to describe. It's one of the most fascinating experiences a person can have and I think it's fun/important to talk about. What annoys me is everyone talking about the coronavirus. I bet it's not even going to be one of the top 25 causes of death but everyone is losing their shit over it because of the news/media.

I really like other people describing their experiences; for people who are ignorant, it at least gives them a “flavour”, and for those who have tripped, it’s nice to “compare notes”.
What bugs me is all the tutorial videos where the main focus is on growing as cheaply as possible and not spending money on the correct equipment, as if that somehow makes you a lesser grower. Just putting it out there.....

I’m absolutely horrible at trying to explain it, mainly to my girlfriend who’s only taken mushrooms once like 10 years ago. I really like hearing people all excited talking about it. I have one buddy who I can’t wait to shove his face with mushrooms when this situation is all over.

I understand your point, but human beings are social animals. We all strive to share our experiences with one another, in often nauseating detail. This is particularly true of a mind-bending, borderline insane (lol in a good way) experience like a wild trip. Its normal, when experiencing something so breathtaking and mind-altering as a trip, to want to share it in intense detail. Also, bear in mind that if people, and I mean lots of people, start doing this, people in the media, our political leaders and legislators, our law enforcement, and doctors performing studies (which don't exist very much right now) it could go a long way toward lifting the truly feckless and crazy, not to mention authoritarian legislation against these substances.
I say everyone should share their trips in mind-numbing detail. Write papers on it, compose trip reports, encourage people who trip to share their insights and ramblings. Tripping needs to be removed from the shadows and people need to stop talking about their experiences in secret, and in hushed tones. If by some miracle, and that's what it would take, we can get society to accept tripping as not only a valid form of entertainment, but as a spiritual and religious quest, perhaps we could stop jailing our own citizens for crimes that are really not crimes at all, other than absurd, arbitrary lines by a government whose outdated, antiquated approach to drugs like hallucinogens is both oppressive and draconian.

I enjoy reading trip reports on here of other peoples experiences. Like Ed said - I too like to compare notes. Its fun to play around in the magical realm and see how others had their outcome. Though, it is very difficult to explain. But it's worth it to try. At least for ones that like hearing about others experiences.
I usually post about my changed thought process and mention the thoughts in the trips than moreso the visuals. The thoughts are usually what get to me the most anyway.

Right! I’d rather read trip reports or listen to someone talk about their life changing experiences before I listen to everyone talk about the weather or other mundane topics... or listen to people just talk to be heard... now that shits annoying... but I feel like tripping is very meaningful and I love hearing about it

I like noticing what is different when mental state changes, so I like trip reports, and like to look for how the state affects mental phenomena.

Basically it seems weird to me that someone could be passionate about doing something (tripping) yet have an aversion to listening to people share their experiences with it...

As much shit as joe gets from some people, you know like the type that take psychedelics themselves but bash him for reasons... I like Joe. I watched him growing up. I think he’s a solid person, a real down to earth guy. Maby I’m missing something but ya, I like his podcasts. I sleep to them sometimes.

It’s kind of like listening to somebody you’ve just met describe a weird dream they had the night before.
Annoying? Nah. I really just don’t give a damn about what’s going on in someone else’s dreams. That’s a YOU thing - don’t bring me into it.
Granted, there are some good tripping stories. Maybe it depends more on the storyteller?

Yeah I’ve liked him since day dot. And reckon he has brought so much good exposure to psychedelics. Definite props for Joe Rogan

I guess it depends how much you're into psychology.
Also - I do believe the storyteller plays a big factor as well. Someone who sounds illiterate when speaking about it can be quite annoying. "Yah man I was just tripping balls, WOW". Granted, it is hard to explain (i know), but theres some words that stand taller than other when explaining an experience.

People talking about drugs IRL is kinda cringey in general I reckon - or at least trying to explain how fucked up they were or whatever. Props to Rogan for spreading the word but he is kind of like that guy who always gets his drugs out to show people.

Hopefully youre right about that top 25 statement but the virus in its current state isnt the scariest part, its the fact that its mutated from an animal-to-animal contagion, to animal-to-human and then to human-to-human in two weeks. Its RNA sequencing for an immunity response isnt human; like the seasonal flu.
Its a lung eating sob too which is scary but whats even scarier is what it may or may not mutate into next if/when it mutates again is the thought that keeps me worried and it probably will mutate several more times.
The govt/world isnt freaking out over people simply getting it they are freaking out over it getting into so many people thus creating many opportunities for mutation across varying RNA / genetics etc. Hence all these closings, quarantines etc etc.
So,yea. Do your part. Stay home.
Whats going on is unheard of in my 43 year life and imo this isnt some media pump for ratings.
Plus, what do we do if this happens every year. The seasonal flu mutates every year but it has human RNA sequencing so human bodies can build resistance and/or immunity to it.
This new virus could be well worth talking about for years to come. Who knows.
