Can I take mycelium from old agar dish?
    #26542679 - 03/18/20 01:21 PM (3 years, 10 months ago)

I'm currently trying to grow some Golden Teacher for the first time (I've had a few successful grows of other strains previously).

I had an absolute disaster with the first attempt (all the mini-tubs failed.. I suspect that my grow spot has some legacy contam issues..) and have had to go back to step one..

Unfortunately, I don't have the original spawn print any longer.. however, I do have the agar plates that I initially started the process on.

They were initially spawned to in Oct last year - and while the mycelium has overgrown a little.. it still appears white and I can't see any contam.

So is it still viable after being stuck in there for so long?

I figured I'd try cloning it to another plate to start off with - but just checking to see if I'm on the right track or should look for an alternative source for this next attempt.

Thanks for any advice!

Hey There:crazy: Looks like your going in the right direction if the only thing you have left of the gt is plates. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the mycelium grows on the new dish. Psilocybin can be so resilient..

Also, A picture would be very helpful. but really your just going to have to put it on a new plate or if it looks clean still id put it to both grain and do some transfers.

good luck! Im actually in need of some plates. do you make them yourself or do you have a vendor you trust?
