Lately in Southern California, it has been quite a cool and wet winter. There have been at least 3 rainy days out of the week with hardly any sunlight, it hardly ever rains this often. On my routine walk, there are woodchips all along the trails and I happened to notice these bright brown/caramel looking caps poking out of some woodchips a few days ago. Out of curiosity, today I returned to the cluster of tan caps and collected a few for further inspection. After some research, I think they may be P. Allenii but I am not sure...what do yall think?
http://

Habitat: I found the cluster of fungus along a trail on a grassy hillside by a man-made lake, growing in some woodchips. The altitude is roughly 500ft.
Gills: Color: the gills seem to be a pale brown on the fresher growth, and darker on the drier ones. It is hard to tell but the gills do seem to be attached. Probably adnexed
Stem: The length of the stem is about 3-4cm. The diameter .5-.75cm. Their color is similar to the cap in some cases paler. The texture is rather soft and squishy. They are also hollow.
Cap: The diameter of the cap is about 2-3cm, also tan almost golden. Soft and squishy like the stem. They are smooth convex-shaped almost flat caps.
Spore print color: After a few hours, the caps left a dark brown/graphite print
Bruising: As I picked them I noticed no bruising.
Other information: The scent of the mushroom is nothing crazy to be honest it is a rather plain smelling fungus. The first scent that came to mind was a grainy/woody aroma. The lack of bruising has me skeptical...I know the chances of coming across a psychedelic mushroom are quite rare especially given my location and environment, but I figured might as well give it a shot! Let me know what you think!!!

Can't see your pictures (did you upload them to your gallery?) but stem and spore print descriptions are not suggesting P. Allenii.

I can't tell you exactly what they are, but I can tell you they are definitely not active.

Ok I see the pics now after your edit. They don't look like P. allenii to me but I could be wrong... wait for a Trusted Identifier (TI). And yeah, stems should be white (or at least white-ish) and tough, not fragile. Spore print should be distinctly dark purple-brown.

Here is the spore print from overnight. From what I found it could be Agrocybe sp. in that case, should I munch on a few?

Why would you want to? They dont have alot of food value and they arent psychedelic
