Question about size and potency: Ecuadors

Reaching out to the tribe:
I recently harvested a few large Ecuadors, some with caps as big as my hand and stems an inch in diameter. Once they were dried, I set three grams aside for a Friday.
On an empty stomach, I ate them, waited a few hours, and just kinda reached level 1, or less.
So my question is: can mushrooms get too big where potency diminishes? At harvest, will small sizes, when the veil breaks, be as potent as the larger ones? Does each inherit the same amount of psilocybin, regardless of size? On a Friday, eat five from the same grow regardless of size?
Thanks!!

I recently let a harvest continue growing for about a week for various reasons, but mainly because I was working away and wanted a larger flush. Photo before harvest shows the veils had long broken (notice the spores all over the place, lovely purple colour):-

But get this, the trip from fresh lemon tea was so much stronger than I’d been led to believe; I was told generally Mazatapec are typically weaker than other cubensis, but this wasn’t my experience. So I may just have super potent multi spore genetics.......
But to answer your question directly, once the veil breaks, the mushroom concentrates all its energy into spore production, and stops making the psilocin and psilocybin, amongst other psychoactives. So as the mushroom gets bigger, it is effectively now getting weaker. I’ll try some simple maths to elaborate:
Your mushroom before the veil breaks is 1g and it contains 0;01g psilocin. No idea what the actual figure would be, it’s just for illustration purposes. Now you let the mushroom grow further until the cap is fully flat. The mushroom now weighs 3G, is twice three times as big, but still only contains 0.01g psilocin. So if you harvest early, your weight for weight potency would equate to 0.01g per gram of harvested mushroom. Leave a few days and that ratio would fall to 0.01g per 3 grams of harvested mushroom. So now say your entire flush weighed 1kg it would contain10g psilocin. Leave the harvest a few days until you get 3kg; you still only have a total figure of 10g psilocin.
Hope this has clarified why you harvest just a the veils start to break. Exam question answer: small “button-like” mushrooms are much stronger than large flat-headed mushrooms.
Good luck DJ Ed

Thanks for the reply. That makes sense. I was excited to see such a giant mushroom, but understand your analogy that psilocin content doesn't increase with weight.
I'm learning!
Thanks

I am not so sure however, if ALL psychoactive production ceases once the veils break though; I’ve never really noticed any drop off in strength. And make a tea, I always mix large with small mushrooms. Those last few trips from leftover harvests are always small, and always super intense!

Multispore roulette. I have had fruits from the same tub hit me totally differently.

I've had big fruits past-their-prime be strong as well, but yes, the best time to pick IME is just as the veil breaks. The quality is highest as well, after that they drop spores they start to degrade.

I'm following this because I'm about to have what looks like a heavy flush of ECs. Never tried them but I cloned a few pins off agar and has been some of the most aggressive mycelium I've ever seen. I am excited.

Check out this monster ecuador I grew:

Wasn't very potent, but it was cool that 4 of us could all trip on literally the same shroom. I've always wondered how size/maturity ratios to potency. There's that rumor that aborts are the most potent by weight since their size is stunted.
