Day 166 of COVID-19: I've located a bush that still has leaves on it. I have planted it under lock and key next to the latrine pit. I will have leaves available for barter. Serious inquiries only.

There are a couple hot spots that are going to start descending into chaos in the next couple days. Other parts of the county will appear stable. Suffficient testing, in addition to the social distancing measures we are under now, may work to spare parts of the US. Some parts of the US are going to suffer and others will be ok

Monkeys Develop Protective Antibodies to SARS-CoV-2
A small study of macaques finds they don’t develop a coronavirus infection the second time they are exposed, supporting the idea of using plasma from recovered patients as a treatment for COVID-19.

Our "Shelter In Place" started today. I went to work anyways because I'm allowed to and I'm mostly working in someone's attic and they don't seem to be infected. After work I went to the Home Depot to get supplies and was surprised how many people were there. At the time I didn't think much of it, but they had half the huge parking lot blocked off with garden soils. I wonder if we should expect a food shortage coming up?
I've got weed growing now, good thing too because I keep seeing people trying to get weed from a closed dispensary near me. Also artichokes, strawberry, peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, all kinds of lettuce, kale, cucumbers, 60 avacado trees, and some random stuff I forget. I might stock soil and do a few more beds this year too.

If I had to guess, the cases in Italy are much more tightly clustered. Once the local system is saturated, death rates skyrocket.
It seems like this would already been well documented if true, but it’s possible that a more lethal strain dominates Italy

I'm in Toronto Canada... day 3 of self-isolation. Living with the parents at the moment and they just came back from vacation. My mom is in bed with a fever and a cough and just hoping it's not the virus. Cases are going up here by about 25-50 new cases a day. The worst is definitely yet to come. This has all happened so fast - I had a feeling it might hit here because it's a major city but it makes me sad how badly the U.S is getting hit right now, but we're probably only a week behind ourselves.
It's only been a few days and I wish things returned to normal, but that could take a long time...

Guys! Guys! Guys!
I'f got a great idea for a super lucrative cottage industry and here's your chance to get in on the ground floor!
So, say there's someone who's getting up in your space and their coughing and not covering their mouth and you want to get them to back off, like FAST, but if you spray them with pepper spray you know they'll just start oozing virus laden fluids all over the place... so check this out: SANITIZING PEPPER SPRAY!
Just soak some ghost peppers in some alcohol, strain, and add peroxide! BAM! SUPER SOCIAL DISTANCING JUICE!
Just send me 5% of your profits. We'll have to work on the honor system here, but you seem like a trustworthy bunch.

Not sure I could word it any better:
Quote:
This act “would give government officials unprecedented powers to craft de facto regulations for online speech. Online service providers would almost certainly err on the side of caution and take down anything – including a lot of lawful, constitutionally protected speech – that the attorney general might not like,” says Emma Llansó of the Centre for Democracy and Technology, a nonprofit organization.
While fighting for and focusing on reducing child exploitation is something of great importance, the EARN IT Act is an undeniable attack on encryption and will affect how companies operate and potentially your privacy.

The biggest factor is probably time. Germany lags behind a bit on Italy. The people who die from this generalky take a few weeks to do so, except the very old and very weak, who tend to die in a matter of days, or even hours (a case reported by a family member of mine who is a doctor in a nursing home). But the others struggle for 3-4 weeks and the die anyway. It's likely the death count in Germany and also The Netherlands is about to rise fairly steeply in about a week or so.
