Nice stuff guys,
Seems the south of the state will is a bit hit and miss.
I’ve been watching the development of the patches I’ve found in the NW, doesn’t seem like anyone else is picking them which surprises me as 2 are very public areas. Still some pins popping up.
The bush patch I found growing under eucalyptus trees were simply massive with long stems too.
Got a pic of some growing next to a children’s park play area but I wasn’t sure if I should put the picture up due to giving the spot away. I saw a couple of young bucks darting around the trees and tried to bump into them so I could show them so nice subs but they took off on me. I’ll keep an eye out for them again.
I still haven’t taken a decent dose yet, waiting to free up the time.
I’m really interested to see how much longer they will survive. A couple areas will be protected from all but the strongest frosts so may last a while yet.

50mm of rain in the NE over the last week will hopefully fire up a few patches that have only been trickle feeding out a few pins weekly.
Has anyone had a significant second flush anywhere in the state yet.
Such a bumper start to the season but I’m struggling to find fresh new patches that aren’t waterlogged and rotten or bug eaten

One place that I've been visiting over the last few weeks did produce a second flush, but without a lot of the numbers were down on it's first flush.
We need some decent , if things are to pickup again imo.
Btw, just wanted to put out the question on how's everybody's season been going, apart from the lack of side, how's things going?
For me, I've only hunted a few times so far, and each time that I have, I've been able to find enough for a trip or 3. Due to restrictions still in place, I've been unable to get to my best patch as it's a hour plus drive. I will add that it's been good to have fresh shrooms for a change as I normally dry them first then consume, but this year I've been eating them fresh, and boy does it taste a lot better then dried shrooms

Found these, first time looking and found first go. These ones were under eucalyptus. Will post an ID post, as I'm not 100% confident.

Those are subs so it worked out posting them in the official thread.

What is everyone’s opinion of the season so far?
Personally I’m not optimistic about the season continuing and I haven’t stored anything 😬😬

Unless we get more rain, not great.
I've fortunately got about 70 grams dried but my good (and secret spots) haven't re-fruited again so hoping the bit of rain we had on Friday might get things growing again.

When does the season usually finish in Tas? More specifically southern Tas?
Do you find more around sea-level as it gets colder?

I was having decent luck with one area, consistently bringing home fruits most weekends but last time I went 2 weeks ago everything was dry and no new pins around. Just hasn't been enough rain down in the south. Decided to go mountain biking this wknd instead. With the frosty mornings now, do you think we will have much more of a season left?

Season been pretty amazing!! As I said I have about 70g dried but hopefully we get another flush
By the way, I think dried in hot water with some lemon is sooo much easier than fresh!!

I headed out on friday before the rain to check if my bonza spot had anything, but it had mostly been frost bitten and a bit rotten. I think the season is pretty much finished unless the sites are below around 100m elevation. Its a pitty that its winding down due to such little rain and getting cold. But I am glad I found one location a month ago that had enough subs to give the entirety of Hobart ego-death.

Found some more today, we went to the same spot as it's walking distance from home and because we also had some success last time. Found the majority on a north facing hill, quite sunny. I assume this is because the weather is getting a little to cold and they are popping up in the warmest places. Although, in saying that, the best ones we found were in a cool location with very little sunlight - these were found at a lower elevation though. We took a few pins as they were obviously drying up and dying.
The majority of these were found in dry eucalyptus forest at an elevation between 200m-320m. This is our first time hunting for subs and we have never tried psychedelics before so we are doing spore prints on all of them, even though I'm quite confident they are all subs. We did come across quite a few look a likes which is scary haha, hopefully we haven't mixed any in our batch.
All of these have been found in Northern Tasmania, in the Meander Valley area. Planning on checking out another potential spot this week sometime, will make another post if we find any

Hey guys, was also wondering if anyone hunts any of the other Psilocybe species in Tasmania? And if they are worth looking for?
Thanks

I am also interested to know this. From what I can gather, subs are both plentiful (comparatively) and easy to identify, so much easier and more fruitful to hunt for - but I'd love to know if anyone hunts other varieties?
Found these today at previous patches I'd harvested 3 weeks and 2 weeks ago. A couple at the sea level site had been bitten by frost. The more sheltered patch had sprung 10 new mushies since the rains (and I left a few pins).
sub lovin' on another mushroom:
