Thank you obtuse! I was blown away myself to be honest, but I’d been watching temps in this specific area for two weeks, it paid off, it’s also the earliest I’ve ever seen them! Ohh nice! I hope you have some luck in the paddocks this year!

Hahahaha thank you Blazer! I hunt in the bush miles from civilisation, it was actually nice to get out away from all the stress and negativity from this virus, I hope it doesn’t completely fuck up people’s hunting efforts this year.

Nice work webetrippymane
My first season since I was a reckless teenager.
What a year we are having. I dare say I’ll meet a few fellow hunters on the NW this year due to the tight restriction that will be in place meaning not many people moving about the place. Bush hunting will be good for mental health.

Thank you friend, I’m in the south and things are good early, not much rain for the next fortnight will slow things down a bit, good luck out there, hope you can get yourself a haul for the coming months.

Found a total of about 30 pins today on a walk, found this almost mature Sub on its lonesome. Southern Tasmania, 650m elevation.

as a side note it is illegal to collect anything from a national park in Tasmania.
if you get caught you will get fined

Kind of sucks considering most of the good spots in Tas are far out from the city in national parks, hope it’s removed before the end of the season.

I don't see how they could police it. And when I googled it, I think closed only in the sense of closing campgrounds and boom gates.

Yep I agree difficult to police at this point. Let’s face it we are the last people looking to break the social distancing rules whilst hunting
If I’m successful this year it’s going to be a hell of trip for my first experience in 20 years. I work in health care too so expect I’ll need some serious time to prepare my mind. Anyway for whatever reason I feel this is the year so I’m pretty excited and nervous for sure.
But I love bush walking so hunting gives me even more desire to get out there.
I plan on heading up into the hills this weekend for a scout, don’t expect to find the subs but I’m sure I’ll find some spots to get back to as the season gets into full swing.
As a side note for you experienced hunters.... do you have any idea at this early stage what kind of a season you expect?

It is an early season. but that usually means an early finish, say may. but it may also mean you might get a second wave in late july, August before temperatures rise again.

Congratulations WeBeTrippyMane on your finds .
Hello obtuse It's awesome to see you're still around.
On the subject of the Toyota Corolla Virus, I see it impacting on hunting this season unfortunately. I hope I'm wrong.

I'd give it a fortnight anyway before going on a hunt, I've found pins so far, only one mature specimen, little rain the last week and warmer temps will slow things down just a lil. they cannot man all of the parks and reserves, there are 100 different ways in/out of them if you know what you're doing.
And in regards to a first experience in a while, dont do what i did and ingest 5.6 dry of subs, on my second ever trip, have not touched them since.
