Question regarding SGFC misting and time away from home.

I'll be birthing 12 cakes in a week and am thinking of going the SGFC route for fruiting. My job typically keeps me away from home for about 11 to 12 hours however and want to know if cakes in a SGFC will be okay for that long without any misting? I have 12 cakes in a humidity chamber right now and they're doing horribly so I really want to be extra safe with these next 12 cakes as I don't have any others currently colonizing. Would be pretty bummed to have 24 cakes colonize without issue but never get them to fruit; all that waiting for nothing lol. I've been considering maybe just throwing a quart size Ziploc bag over the jar instead and fruiting that way as I've read that method only requires misting once a day.

Fully saturated perlite layer should keep it moist for days.
Do you mind expanding on the status of your current cakes though? Humidity chamber seems like a nice option if you can ensure adequate FAE and evaporation rate

My concern isn't so much that the perlite will dry out but rather that the cakes would given the high degree of FAE the SGFC has.
The cakes in my HC have yet to do anything as far as fruiting goes and to be honest they just look dead. They don't have the bright white fluffy look to them that healthy cakes have. They have an almost greyish look to them. There was one cake that pinned a ton while in the 1/2 pint jar, and those pins are continuing to develop. But every other cake has been worthless and like I said, looks dead lol.

Some pics would help.
I find adding extra perlite then watering it properly does a SGFC well in terms of neglecting it.

I'll add some pics of my cakes to my last post in the humidity chamber thread.

I know some people love cakes but if you’re not around to keep an eye on the SGFC shoeboxes are way less maintenance.

Crumbled cakes = increase failure rates and longer colonization times

If a SGFC can handle 11 hours or so without misting I'll will go that route. I don't love the idea of crumbling the cakes to bulk due to the risk of losing everything if even one jar is contaminated.
