Galindoi instapnt blob?
    #26536472 - 03/15/20 11:26 AM (3 years, 10 months ago)

I set up several rye grain jars of galindoi 1 week ago, using a commercial ms syringe, and was surprised to see a myc 'knot' had formed on the surface of the rye in one jar only. Is this unusual? I'm not seeing myc activity in any other jar. (Whitish area to the bottom is from the flash.) Jars were pc'd >90 minutes. I suspected the cultures might be slightly dry based on limited condensation inside the jars, but maybe not? Opinions please? I can inject a bit of sterile water into the jars if it seems advisable? Sorry about the crappy pic quality.
(I also set up a couple of agar cultures from this syringe.)
Thanks

Grains look fine. Not a knot, but it looks like the mycelium is starting to form. Put it away and check back on it in 2 weeks.

Sockadin, I think you're right. At the 10-day mark, several more jars are showing a little myc, in spite of being in a slightly cooler (65°) location--I'm temporarily out of room in the incubator.
Galindoi should not be shaken @ 30% colonization, I think?
