Did I fuck up my PC and my cakes?

So obviously I didn’t use enough water when I did my cakes and the bottom of my brand new PC is warped now! I watched videos on how to do it and the dude said just put enough water to where it’s under the rack and not touching the jars, so I used about two cups and ran it for 10 minutes till it started steaming good than I let it steam for ten more minutes than I put my weight on and kept it at 15psi for twenty minutes and turned off. Now it’s warped on the bottom. Is it ruined? And are my cakes fucked? Please say no 🤦♂️

It's okay, we all have warped PC's
and I usually use 3 to 3.5 quarts of water when I run my pressure cooker for 2 hours and am usually left with about an inch of water.
What size is your PC? I'm using a 23q Presto
2 cups wouldn't even cover the bottom of my PC
by the way, if you do happen to be using a presto, you can glue/tape 3 quarters on the top of your jiggler. This will make your Presto max out around 18-19 psi on maximum gas. When you reach those levels, you can drop your gas down pretty low and still maintain around 16 psi with this modification, it will also run whisper quiet, while using less water.

I have the same one 23 qt presto. With two cups I actually had to put some jar lids under the rack two keep the water from touching the jars. This is my first time doing this and when I got up this morning I was heartbroken thinking I just fucked everything up! I still inoculated my cakes. I quest I’ll see in a week or so if it worked. But the PC is still good to use being warped? Thanks for setting my mind at ease.👍

It's okay for water to touch the jars, when I sterilize 10 quarts of grains at a time, usually the 3 quarts I put in will raise 3-4 inches up the side of the glass. If you're just doing small batches of small jars (like for pf tek) you could put 4-5 empty jars at the bottom, and put the rack on top of those jars then you can place like, what, at least 9 pint jars on top of the rack? probably more, I've never used pints.
but yeah, I've fallen asleep with my PC running I think twice now in two years. Has never sat on the burner with out wobbling a little bit. If I ever got a new PC I would definitely never make that mistake again, just to keep it nice.

Water can touch up to half way up the side of the jars.
Read the pressure cooker manual not what some hack on YouTube said.

My small aluminum presto, the bottom warps a little when it hits max temp, returns to flat after cooling

Yea that's not good. Or you're using too high of heat for the aluminum

I have other pans that do the same thing, and some quality 'allclad' cookware that does not. Figured just the nature of the ..value. Its a electric flat top, not overheating... as soon as it starts rocking heat goes to low. probably wouldn't even notice it happen on a gas top or under general consumer use but i'm OCD about details on everything

Metal fabricator check in here. Aluminum will get soft at a temp well below melting temp. Especially thin sheet aluminum. So it is entirely possible for a pan to warp slightly at cooking temps, but we are talking a few thousandths not a 1/16of an inch and contract back flat. Sheet aluminum can do weird shit that's why guys who are good at welding it make good money.

You might be getting it to hot to fast. On my hotplate I go Luke warm, medium, medium high over the course of 30 mins and then when I get done venting in medium high I will back it down to medium low or low depending on the weather. Electric burners distribute heat more evenly than flame and can cause the metal to warp.
