Amanita and an unknown
    #26534641 - 03/14/20 11:55 AM (3 years, 10 months ago)

All were found yesterday under California coast live oak.

Amanita ocreata

Amanita velosa? Had warts but not large patches of veil remnants. Cap was somewhat more orange in person.

This one has me stumped. My best guess is Hebeloma crustuliniforme

Your Amanita ID's are correct.  I would guess Leucopaxillus albissumus for the last one.  Look for clumpy mycelium on the stem base where you pull it out.

BTW we don't have Hebeloma crustuliniforme in California, what we have that looks like that is rumored to be closer to Hebeloma velutipes.

Damn, Leucopaxillus was my first guess but I discounted it since it wasn't quite as white or as firm as those I've found before. That's what I get for assuming every emember of a genus will be just like the ones I've found before. This one definitely had that clumpy basal mycelium.

Thanks for the quick ID :bow2:

Ah, your post really came in handy as I found what I now am confident is A. velosa yesterday as well - looks identical.  Gotta go back with a good camera!
