Hello shroomeys,
Hope its fitting in this forum, due to the non-trippy nature of the chaga, thought there might be some friendly experts here. I got my hands on some pretty cheap and wild chaga, but here my problem, I bought it from some dude over amazon, meaning I have no clue if it is the real deal or not. He included some pictures, please help me identyfy this lovely chunk, I am kinda lost with this... Thanks in advance... (sry for the hugeness of the pixtures..)

Inonotus obliquus grows mostly on birch trees, that tree in the picture looks kinda like a conifer. I'm wrong about shit all the time though...

I say it is chaga on a white birch. The bark in the bottom left is pretty damn birchy. You can also see the orange/brown dye on the bark curiosity of rainfall.

Hey everyone - I hope it's okay to enter this thread with my identification request.
What do you think about this? Chaga or not?

Thank you for any opinion on this. I would really like to treat myself with this wonderful medicine, but I need to make sure it is in fact chaga.

I will say yes,but be warned, I have never observed this species in person, I'm only going on what I have read and seen in publications.
In the future, please start your own identification thread, it's dangerous to hijack someone else's thread because it can lead to accidental poisoning through confusion of two different people asking for identifications.
