The Rollercoaster.
It seems you bought a ticket. So it's time for you to take the ride. Hold your breath for transit. As you journey deep inside.
There is now no jumping off. Screaming won't help you either. The carriage clicks and clacks to its top. Then you plunge into an ether.
Weightlessness and rushing sounds. Lights go by likes lasers. Evaporated deep into strange surrounds. Exhilaration beyond ones nature.
A change of direction quickly comes. Subconsciously pinned to the seat. Overwhelmed by exquisite sums. Beautiful but to quick to complete.
Then a twist to all that was straight As rotation spins the frames. Holy shit this rides getting great. This loss of reference makes all seem the same.
Sudden sensations of looping. Through and endless universal void. Then somethings shown to you. The rollercoaster inside.
This can be the blissful moment. Where it all seems to be got. No experience more potent. A fairground ride at stop.
After the ride within a lifetime. A deceleration should be more gentle than the rise. Slowly for the first time since you hopped on. You may now open your eyes.
Tears of wonder and exhilaration. May now stream down from your face. This is when some wanna go again. Also some jump of with haste.
One lesson though not to forget. Is that the track will forever change. So its probably just best to try and recollect. What was individually and profoundly strange.
This ride is contained in nature. The ticket booth appears when sought. You need not worry you will always come back. But do know. It is a one way trip you've bought.

sausages said: Cheers for the support and advice! I wasn't going to start with 2 kilos, and the whole lextek thing has been heavily questioned. I'm getting what sounds like some good pointers over at the dmt nexus. It also sounds like it's worth waiting until mid-summer for higher yields. While I am aiming for crystals instead of goo this is more about just experimenting and practicing rather than any sort of focus on production. brk I'll take that offer for ID help and appreciate your input, while I've managed to avoid poisoning myself so far in my mushroom hunting, at this stage it's clear I lack the trained scientific eye for detail that some have worked hard to develop.
Looks like you correctly identified them to me. Also, if you want to narrow down your search for a particular species use this site to help you https://avh.chah.org.au/ . It will give you GPS coordinates of where certain species have been identified by botanists in the past. Some of the information is quite old and its likely that those particular trees may be dead and gone, but if you look around in the general area you might just find some...
Regarding crystals over goo; I think everyone would prefer crystals but sometimes with acacia that's all your going to get. It's fine though.

Something a bit different with this post. Went for a couple of big walks in burnt bushland on KI recently, and found a ton of Morel mushrooms! Found in only burnt scrub, but in a couple of very different sites.
Found at the first area, with a cool looking shelf fungus seeping out of a log, and a habitat shot.
Second area, with another habitat shot.
 The haul!

Cool finds! Always incredible to see nature recovering at its own pace.
Unfortunately the gooey product of the first couple of pulls from the extraction doesn't appear to be anything active. I'll try a few more things with what I've got, but apart from that I'm shelving the DMT project until summer. It might sound like it was all a waste of time but it was still kind of fun, and some valuable experience for when I obtain some more promising starter material to work with.

mad stuff! I haven't tried foraging for morels, might have to do something about that this week. I've more or less quit facebook which has left me out of the loop about the edibles people are finding.
I wasn't going to try another DMT extraction but fate led me to collect some A. floribunda material, looks like a specimen someone else has already helped themselves to with a limb at some time in the past (looking at you Sigtyr :-P !), we'll see what comes of it.

Dont worry I have seen some where bark has been harvested off them as well, or I assume so anyway. There are lots out there though, and this time of year is perfect to look for them because they are flowering and that makes identification a breeze. You will start seeing them everywhere once you get familiar with them.
A. floribunda is not a huge yielder but from what i have experienced it is 100% reliable all year round, so good luck, I'm sure you will have success.
PS: Feel free to PM me if you need any advice.

I think it's all over for the year, searched for hours today and found one solitary sub in an area down south that is normally littered with them.

I read online they're going to plant heaps of wattles in the adelaide parklands, make like a wattle forrest in there.. oh yeah!
I find when they're in bloom it makes IDing them more precise. Like right now they are lining every country road i drive on. Makes my day.
A. Accuminata are also reliable from what i've read online but i think it's more endemic to WA. I think we have it's cousin, A. Burkittii growing up north in red soil country SA. I've been looking for it the last few years without luck. It blooms in october.
Eastcoasters have A. Obtusifolia to play with and vicco have the buffalo wattle to manage, apparently it gets raped pretty hard. Poor thing.

That's what i thought but my money is on bob finding a few in october
Have a read of the older threads from 2010 onwards for inspiration. (Start at the end of the threads and work back in time). Lots of interesting peeps back then.. not around no more?

Hey fellow Hunters, in the next few day going to be road tripping through SA on the way to NSW from way out West and wondering if its worth making time to stop for a woodlovers hunt? I've read you guys are getting some wet weather. This is a very broad question, I know. I usually hunt in my home state Tassie and season is well and truly over there. I dont know anything about SA, just popping the feelers out there. Point me in the right direction, thanks in advance

Also, morel season is in full swing. I have seen thousands growing in some areas

The actives are out there. Found some G.purpuratus well past their use by date a few days ago. Too far gone to qualify as a season opener.
Just a heads up for anyone looking to kickstart the SA 2021 actives thread
