Had fun today exploring new places and getting thoroughly drenched. No subs though but definitely not a waste of time. Lots of funky inactives about.

This is Psilocybe alutacea. Nice find!
Good to see so many sub finds over the past few days. Some beautiful pictures too. Love the variety of subs OOISI.

Yes! That was my very first alutacea find from the other week, I was out fossicking and it was an incidental find. I've seen less than a dozen since then and haven't collected any. I have a couple of dozen subs, I'm happier exploring new ground this season though it hasn't been very productive, otoh I don't trip much and most of my friends aren't into shrooms so quantity isn't important. I'll probably only do a few more hunts this year, I have a couple of locations in mind that aren't too far from home.
Great pics ooisi

Happy shortest day of the year everyone.
Hows the rain this weekend!! Got soaked a few times but found lots of subs in new ground for me personally, probably been picked for decades fairly well known touristy spot on the w/ends..
Was definately worth it, bit of a challenge to get shots in the drizzle. I highly recommend getting out there now if you thinking about it. I'm seeing lots more mank ones out in the south, still primo ones of course and pins. Hiked all day and didnt see another person, i guess the rain and footy maybe. Maybe i'm just too stealth.. Picked a hand full this time. Figured i'd earned 'em. Fresh is best imo.

What started as a morning walking and exploring just for fun with the wife and little one soon turned into a brand new hunting spot for me when she nearly stepped on one. This rain is doing wonders out there. Soo many scattered all over a hill side where the water has been rushing through Also I am new to the Adelaide area and not sure if this is normal for this time of year around shroom spots, but on a dirt road in the eastern hills there was a police car sitting and an officer standing there waiting, he took my license gave me a breatho AND drug swab. Asked what we were doing in the area then sent me on my way without even entering my details. Anyway stay safe all ✌

Sapol seem to be more active every year. Apart from us relatively law abiding druggos there's trespassers particularly around reservoirs (I've picked my share from such areas ), SA water is technically private land. As we've all seen lot of illegal dumping goes on out in the sticks, and seems there have been issues in some places with 4wd "enthusiasts" trashing gates fences and service tracks. I love 4 wheel driving myself and I'm sure most of us think that's some bullshit. They also will just harass anyone they don't like the look of. ACAB but they tend to be more professional in SA than the rest of Aus from what I've experienced and heard.
Went back to a place where I found a single sub last year and this time there were dozens and dozens. Plenty left behind if it's someone else's regular patch.

Work got cancelled so i payed a visit to an area close by.

Pic of the day.

Lots of pins. It also seems to me that if an area is disturbed, the mushrooms will grow smaller in size, as if to say 'disperse spores immediately'. This area had a quite a bit of disturbed, upturned mycelium.

Hi all. Absolute beginner here, first ever season. I've spent the last few days searching this site for advice and info, and headed south yesterday morning for a little hunt with my partner after feeling more confident about suitable terrain. The hunt proved to be fruitful, and we came across these monsters under some plant debris as we were about to leave! I tried them for the first time ever last night, and knowing that I hand picked them myself made it so much more special. Thank you all for creating such an informative and welcoming space, I'm so excited to continue learning about these amazing fungi!

I thought I'd go out and look for some new spots today and struck gold in the second place i looked. Interestingly i had checked around that same spot a couple of years ago and didn't find anything so i guess it pays to revisit areas that may have been fruitless in the past.

Awesome to see great finds rolling in and people having good experiences
Finally got around to making some funkadelic honey out of my hauls so far.

Nice! I did the same thing and went back to a spot I'd sussed out a couple of weeks back but with no subs present. Only found a tiny patch with 3 small subs and few waterlogged specimens in a creek, didn't even bother picking them. I was keen to keep exploring but ran out of sunlight. Maybe tomorrow...

Holy shitballs that honey looks inspiring . Is that just powdered dried shrooms mixed into honey, or is there more to it?

That looks very..... psychedelic. Maybe you could make a link with a how to for easier finding than in here? And how do you measure that for eating?

I finally got out today and found some almost immediately just metres from a well traversed path. Up north, amongst bracken between a path and a stream. I didn't find any large patches but they were just scattered about in groups of two or three. Probably could have found heaps more if I kept looking. I've looked there in the past and never found anything. Seems conditions are heaps better this year! Waiting on trusted ID in another thread but I think they are all good?

Also found this in nearby pines. Is it a P. Altucea? I left this one be.

Nice finds mate! All look like subs, except the last one which does look like alutacea.
