no I only see them briefly and then they go back into little holes but they look like little tiny red bugs along with typical gnats and flus and a big ol black spider

I left that hydrated for months last year before using it with no treatment, it even popped a couple Panaeolus papillionaceus in that time lol

After seeing this I figured store manure straight from the bag would definitely work.
Fully colonized in a few days. And I left some of the wet leftover manure/verm mix sitting in a tub out in the open. Still no mold after a week. I though manure would be a lot sketchier to work with.

Are bugs something that you usually deal with or do you think they are caused by the manure?

oh the manure was loaded when I got it lol, this really was worst case scenario it was old spaen that was already iffy, freshish manure that was soaked and not aged or dried( bugs don't tend to live in the dry stuff) from a stable so it's loaded with urine, the tub had lots of dead flus from sitting on my deck after I used it to dry grain with so it was covered in grain starch and it is a 110 ltr tub and the temps have not hit 70 in the room yet lol. the goal was to make a bed outside my room but the ground was still frozen so I said fuck it

first pins have popped, and here's the same culture on pasteurized manure, like I said the spawn was sketchy and reacted as such

the pasteurized tubs are starting to knot up so a few days behind the untreated tub. the untreated tub is now pushing a lot of pins out but I'm not expecting a great canopy or anything I've really neglected this tub from the start lol

Hell yeah!
With all this quarentine time I'm trying to come up with all crazy ideas for spawn and substrate. Fixing to shred some palm leave in my chipper to see how that works.
We all got time, let's experiment!
