And YOU, America, are going to be next when the realistic figures become known. You guys almost never tested an up until now have been taking measures like its climate change
Our president is an elderly man with dementia and his future opponent is an even older man who has even worse dementia. What do you expect from us?
We're taking this train off the rails over here
I expect every American to make their little part of America, great again, by effecting the CHANGE that presidents cannot bring but, Yes, YOU Can!
Be like Noah, make your home the Ark for your family to weather the storm, tell the people to do the same, and leave it to them whether to heed it or dismiss it.
Its as simple as this. You have responsibility over yourself, you can help those who will listen, those who won't, good luck to them.
Noah: ITS RAINING.
That's like telling the aryans, bloods, crips and mexican mafia to all work together to break out of the supermax at this point
The problem is that many of those who don't listen or don't care are the ones making the decisions or on the local level are the ones with all the guns. I got plenty of supplies, but if it ever got bad enough that I desperately needed them there sure as hell would be people out there far more desperate, and better armed
The people who jave the DAMN FUCKING SENSE to take responsibility over themselves, their family and their friends are about to experience an EVOLUTIONARY ADVANTAGE, the Darwinian way. The way all but the moist cynical of us don't want to be advantaged.
The fuckoffs, to a large extent, will do just that.
You can have superior firepower all you want, what good will it do you when you're coughing blood with a high fever in your bed, alone, draped in bandoliers of .50 BMG ammo?

@Asante: >Guys, a few weeks ago I had a cold that attacked the nose, that sort of lingered with me in subdued form, there's a bit of coughing and chest discomfort, on my shopping run a bit of cold sweat, all this 4 weeks after the onset..
I had that one as well, so did many people around me. It was a bit early for corona. I'm afraid it wasn't the lite version but just a different kind of bug.

I just mean ive been wanting a shotgun fo a while anyways. I'm thinking through worst case scenario with the virus, economy, the climate or whatever else comes next.
I've been trying to prioritize prepping but it's always not priority number 1. Now it is and I'm just tryna be ready for anything else

Swine flu is a flu virus. Most people have some immunity to the flu. Some people are genetically immune to the flu. This is not a flu virus

What Foods To Go For In A COVID-19 Store Dash
First of all, fuck water if your tap water is reasonably drinkable. Just buy a rainbarrel or foodgrade 55 gal plastic vat and at the first sign of strong trouble, fill that baby up. A LifeStraw will do the rest. If you buy a bottle of fresh, non sudsy bleach, you can use it to re-desinfect the water but with a lifestraw you dont need to.
Think of shopping runs as shopping EXPEDITIONS.
You take what you can carry so let that which you carry be OF SUBSTANCE.
Some things of substance:
Tomato paste tins (veggies) cans/jars of beans (protein) peanut butter (orotein & fat) bags of rice (carb) bags of dry pasta (carb) Bags of dry beans (protein) lentils (protein) split peas (protein) oatmeal (very versatile) dried vegetables canned vegetables dried veg/herb mix for rice dehydrated soup dried mushrooms meat/fish meat/fish butter oil Applesauce instant mashed potato mayonaise Juices milk powder sterilized milk Vitamins D, C, Zinc, Multi Spices and salt.
You get the picture: you need, basically, enough protein to build yourself, enough carbs and fat to fuel yourself, enough vegetables for health and nutrition and the rest is extra.
You want to get the stuff that FILLS you and especially that which is EASY TO PREPARE and is HEALTHY - because disease is the enemy.
If you dump a big bag of rice, pasta or oatmeal in an airtight foodgrade vat, you got your basics covered. At least you will not be hungry or die.
Thats however very primitive. You want at least something that makes that taste better. Also, protein.
Its a good time to fill your freezer, and your fridge, and some shelves.
Nonfood:
gloves (could be dishwashing gloves) plastic bags of various sizes roll of box/duct tape Trashbags (very important) toiletpaper non-sudsy bleach strong soap products bottle of fuel/rubbing alcohol (for desinfection) a first aid kit Ibuprofen preferably or another kind of aspirin An antihistaminic like Benadryl Loperamide to stop diarroea.
You get it, you get it, you get it.
What you get must be OF SUBSTANCE and answer to NECESSITY.
What you're going for is making your family able to stay at home for a month, for home isolation, in case of sickness.
If you go for the extreme, you can take several months worth.
A month is the target. If you can't hack that financially, go for 2 weeks.
You get the picture.
Here's a useful link for more.

If you're like, Fuck No, I will buy one thing and one thing only and fuck any and all prepping, get a big bag of the cheapest oatmeal and store it airtight.

If you scoop a bowl of oatmeal and mix in any kind of beverage, from water to milk, to beer, to juice to diet soda, and stir, blammo you have a survivable emergency ration thats as tasty as the liquid you put in it. Not just will it fill you for long and be nutritious, it will actually pass easily too.
Incidentally this is also very cheap, shown 8 gallon tub can be filled with 25lbs of oatmeal for $10.
So if you are like "fuck anything remotely related to Prepping give me the rock bottom of survivability, expedience and cost effectiveness", fill a tub with cheap oatmeal.

What about big bags of oats I use for spawn? Basically horse feed but I'm guessing something could be done with it.

It's not a flu virus, but most people probably have had a cold at some point that was caused by some coronavirus variant. It's not like this is the first ever coronavirus to affect humans.

Basically oats are un-curbstomped oatmeal, so, very good. Its not for nothing that it is premium horse feed, mycelium grows great on it and bugs want at it: its highly nutritious.
Oats are good but need a soak, so they lack the sheer expedience of oatmeal.
