Isopropyl nowhere to be found
    #26531818 - 03/12/20 09:45 PM (3 years, 10 months ago)

People seem to think it prevents Corona, so all the stores are sold out.  Any suggestions for a replacement?

Go buy a bottle of everclear, dilute it to about 60% and bam alcohol good for sanitizing surfaces.

What are you using it for? I’ve never used isopropyl for anything mushroom related. Sanitize your sab with soapy water and flame sterilize your scalpel blade.

Soapy water kinda sucks cuz it doesn't evaporate. Cleaning I agree soapy water is great but I don't want to have to wipe my hands down after spraying them with soapy water, when I could use alcohol and it evaporates leaving everything dry.

I use it all time time. You can use denatured alcohol, just dilute it down.

Look into tattoo supply stores for a squeeze bottle. Has a cool kneck.

Its the act of wiping thats important not really the sanitizer. Just mix up some bleach and water. I dont use much maybe a cap or 2 full of bleach to a spray bottle full of water.
Ive heard 10:1 but I mix it super weak.

Might help a bit but you'll get by fine without it. Its like magic voodoo juice in some peoples minds. S'all about how you do it.

its just plastic/glass, not a hand shedding skin cells everywhere

I still use a foil hat on jars, but I do tend to wipe down my plates, I'll try skipping that.

I use two piece mason jar lids on my jars. The band covers the edge of the lid

I've considered plastic kids many times. But I just can't get over the coverage of the lip as bod said.

I always felt my excessive use of isopropyl was, well, excessive. Plus, wiping down 20+ petris/items is tedious and a pain in the ass.  Glad to hear its probably unnecessary and I don't have to worry about it anymore.
