Monotub fruiting chamber not fully colonized but pins are appearing
    #26529922 - 03/11/20 09:08 PM (3 years, 10 months ago)

Good evening all, I am new to mushroom cultivation and I am looking for advice on what to do if my substate is not fully colonized but I have pins appearing. The substrate is coir, vermiculite and gypsum it was spawned on rye berry's. It has been mixed in the monotub for about 8 days now. Temp is 78° and humidity is at 97°. Should I just go ahead and case the tub and up the fae or should I continue to let it colonize for a while longer. The tub is about 80 percent colonized but there is some gaps in the mycelium growth. Any advice would be great

Without pictures I would say go ahead and put it into fruiting depending on how colonized it is. If your spawn is clean it won't contaminate as your substrate is non nutritious.

Drop the humidity, case and fruit at spawning.

Most likely bacterial spawn based on my experience. Go ahead and fruit it, you will get a first flush if it’s bacteria. Maybe 2nd flush if your lucky.
