so I got my pc and gonna do some grain jars, I was wondering will laboratory filter work since lowest grade one has filtration capacity of 20~25 μm that's more then enough right? I got mine from the university store... I was filtering gold and other solutions with it. was working fine.
I'm a bit worried about steam , it can just destroy the filter.

Well, the filters on bags are 5 or 2 micron so I'd say it's a definite no.

What is the filter made out of? If its made of paper, then its a no-go. Has to be synthetic (cause of the steam).

so small follow up, no pictures sorry, but basically my experiment failed, mey be because i used spore syringe.
2 jars in volume of 120ml one with ironed out scratch remover foam, lid from double sides. second one used scratch remover foam from bottom and top chemical paper filter.
day 4 after inoculation, jars showing signs of grow
day 10 both grows got to 10% colonization then stalled and developed strong bacteria smell, no molds whatsoever.

You are correct that using a syringe negates any results. It's likely to contaminate with a filter made of any substance known to man. Unless the filter showers gamma radiation onto the grain.

i'm gonna do agar and lc and then reinvestigate this thing for fun... scratch remover foam is really cheap, through it's not actually 0.3um, I measured it under microscope it's more like 0.5-0.01mm holes.
