"lil radio set to the emergency frequency"

I watched this doc the other day
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lo_and_Behold,_Reveries_of_the_Connected_World

It showed during last big NYC blackout that the whole band of stations were all off the air. Modern radio stations cannot function without the internet. It used to be if the shit hit the fan they could use generators to keep broadcasting but since the digital age that is no longer an option. I don't even know what the emergency frequency is. I do have a shortwave radio though so I can find out world events, if they are still broadcasting.

If the internet ever goes down (from sun flare or whatever) we will be fucked in ways no one can predict. Everything relies on it, all banking, all commerce, all communication, all transportation, emergency services. I'm not afraid of a virus but a major shake up to the system that holds everything together, that would be scary. If people will fight over toilet paper imagine if shit got real, people would kill each other over a can of soup.

I have enough ammo and fishing gear to provide food for my family, and protect my family.

I should have some more medicines on hand.

I have a woodstove in home and a decent rocket stove i built for my camp for cooking on.

I have many water sources close by and lots of wildlife to harvest if i need too.

Although im having major wrist surgery tomorrow, which will make any two handed task almost impossible for me for a while, this bothers me alot really.

I have around 500$ in gold and silver for trading if need be, although many other items can and will be traded if shtf.
