Quit for twenty years is like I never smoked. They won't give me a lung cancer screening.

Yeah, that stuff is permanent.
Congrats guys! Quiting after smoking for so many years is very difficult to do. Hats off to you two for actually pulling it off

I already washed my hands like 50 times a day
amazing how nurses manage to avoid catching dangerous infections all the time despite being constantly exposed to them
it does help that they are typically aware that people have infections though
but seriously if you sanitize your hands prior to touching any of your orifices after any contact with some other object then it's virtually impossible for you to catch contact/droplet illnesses. unless someone like sneezes or coughs violently very close to you without covering it
this is not classified as an airborne illness. right now they're saying droplet.

I work in a chemistry lab and have a general disdain for the various types of latex/nitrile/rubber gloves because they give people a false sense of safety with a lot of the chemicals and excipients I work with. Thus I probably wash my hands about 50 times over an average day. Moisturizer is key, washing that often will destroy your hands, actually dries the skin out and causes it to crack.

I’m a germaphobe, I wash my hands like 5000 times a day. I’ll wash my hands just to wash my hands. I don’t let people touch my pens, I sanitize my workspace as soon as I get to work and several times throughout the day. I use a paper towel to turn off the faucet and open the bathroom door. I work with a guy that takes a shit and walks right out the bathroom, grabs the microwave and fridge door, eat someone elses lunch, pick his nose, grab a random pen. Stand over me and blow his nose.....I might end up snapping one day.

I agree. We should be more like China, where almost No one washed their hands. You can't get a virus so amazing people think it's a biological weapon without putting some real effort in having a disgusting culture. Absolutely No Racism!
Considering hand washing is Western stupidity to them, I think they know what they are doing.

No. I work in a hospital, and before that I worked in a kitchen. I don’t need some new illness to inspire me to be smart about hygiene; that’s been ingrained in me for years.

You mean 'nothing like a stupid comment'
Chinese people in mainland China don't generally wash their hands. They also don't wear deodorant. They also have a cultural pathology about fresh food. That's why they have the markets. Their culture also is based on dishonesty, such as the concept of 'face'.
Maybe you shouldn't take your culture for granted. China has serious problems culturally and administrativly. The old Chinese traditions were destroyed in the 60's and only still exist in Taiwan in any meaningful way.
Despite this, Traditional Chinese medicine survived and is still practiced by many. Many people see germs as 'western', and Chi as what effects health. Chi and TCM are why they eat dog more in the winter. It 'week's the chi.
Mainland China is a shell of what it was and could be, well the people think they are much more prominent than they are.
They steal intellectual property and are terrible to work with, and China's time and prominence have been overstated for decades. Our 'trade war', wasn't. It's a sick nation, and this virus is a symptom.

I feel like a good percentage of members here probably washed their hand more often than most well before this panic started. Due to my work and this, and other, hobbies I wash my hand on a regular basis. At the same time, I have eaten a lot of dirt in my time and certainly don't shelter myself from exposure.
