Yes but it’s all over the pins and fruits too!! I know you probably already know that and I trust you 100%. I’m just not comfortable with how Much I wiped off that one that stands out like a sore thumb. That’s how much gray is on all the fruits. . Thanx Fahtster.

Look at Aka’s picture above.. expand it and zoom in.. same thing is going on in his tub. Totally normal. Looks like it’s going to be a nice second flush actually

Yeah mines nothing special. Definitely could’ve used more casing but I’ll grab a pic later.
Pe almost always makes a weird tan colored shell type thing over parts of the surface if it’s not cased enough or super aggressive.
This is the one in my signature when it was pinning.

Here's my progress update: my shoeboxes and 16q minis are all starting to tighten up and show knots. Surface pins should be showing themselves in the next few days! As you can see in the last picture, I've got plenty of pins goin' on. They're just all on the sides lol. Next time around I won't be so damn lazy and use a liner
My experimental shoebox that I gently tamped/pressed the casing layers on is doing well actually. The surface dries out much faster than the casing layers that are sprinkled on so it requires more frequent misting but I also think it will contribute to a denser pinset (shoebox on the right in the second picture). Time will tell!
As always, thank you all for all the help you've given me.

Nice! Ya, pe is what got me to use liners at all. All the extra time to fruit usually means some sub shrinkage and thats where the liner comes in. Now i just use em to cut down on cleanup

Yeah, I knew I was in for it like 5 days after spawning when I could already see it consolidating and pulling away from the tub walls lol. I think I'm going to switch over to liners for everything, to. Because, if I'm being honest I'm both too busy and too lazy to be cleaning this many shoeboxes regularly

this is the first time i have tried using a casing layer and its crazy how PE just eats it up and grows threw it, is this the same with all cubensis strains or just PE ? I think im gonna try doing a casing layer on my GT that are almost ready to spawn see if it gives me a nice pin set and less misting because its super dry were i live

They’ll all do it, depends on how aggressive it is and when you case.
This is the current one, definitely subpar.

PE benefits from casing but it's my understanding that other "normal" cubes don't.

i just think the casing would help with surface conditions in a dry climate and seem as how i have a whole bunch of jiffy mix left i figure i may as well use it and see how it goes with other cubes

With most cubes it’s not necessary but definitely won’t hurt.

Dude, i just came into a new enviornment, and my grows are fucked because of dry air that im not used to.
I was thinking the same, casing normal cube grows with jiffy cuz i also have a shit ton.
But its also so much extra work to pasturize jiffy.
What about just making the CVG just a tad wetter and it should balance out for the extra moisture lost from dry air. ?

i find pasteurizing casing effortless I just get jiffy mix to field capacity then vacuum seal in 12" bag and put it in a big stock pot with sous vide on it and forget about it for 4 hours it take about 15 minutes worth of work to get it going then i just forget about it till next morning the sous vide dose all the work i love it

its not not beneficial it just isn't necessary. casings definitely help with fat pinsets. they're very helpful with any outdoor cult of "standard" cubes

If you’re in a dry climate definitely use a decent sized top layer. That’s the thing the made the most difference for me. Also I’ve found that even with single digit rh dubtubs are great unless there’s ANY air current in the room like ac/heater. Being so dry any fae has a huge impact.
I will sometimes case regular cubes if I get a surface of delicate myc too.
