Help Gerrminating King Stropharia
    #26528259 - 03/10/20 10:03 PM (3 years, 11 months ago)

A few weeks ago I was gifted a heavy spore print of King Stropharia.  I've attempted about 10 different dishes so far.  At two to three weeks, no obvious germination on any of them excepting a disgusting looking pink slime on one of them.

I don't know the age of the print, is that an issue with KS?

Received through the mail, any chance an x-ray scanner nuked it along the way?

Using a premixed malt agar, and numerous other fungi spores have germinated and grown aggressively on dishes from the same pour(s).  Would KS prefer another nutrient based agar?

Any other ideas or suggestions?  Help!

Not likely considering spores can survive in space.

You likely need a new medium. One with a different nutrient or less or more nutrients. Less is usually more I would think.
