I found my tribe and their drums are calling me home * 1
    #26527300 - 03/10/20 01:13 PM (3 years, 10 months ago)

I had a deeply impactful set of psychedelic experiences earlier this year. It all started after my first heroic dose where at some point, I began to hear drums in the distance.

My mind moved ever closer towards the drums where I discovered that I was now walking in ancient savanna Africa. It was twilight and as I moved closer to the drums, I could see what was a bonfire off in the distance.

Moving ever closer, the ritualistic drums and chants grew louder. Before I knew it, it was nighttime. The night sky was exceedingly clear. As I approached, it became clear that the drums and sounds I was hearing were that of our ancient ancestors - an early African tribe from which all of mankind descended.

While we did not speak the language, it did not matter - for the tribe was calling me to them and inviting into a healing ritual that they could feel I needed.

Once I approached the tribe, which was singing and dancing in traditional native African garb in a circle around a huge bonfire, the tribal shaman came over and grabbed me.

Out of the pain and exhaustion of my life's turmoil, I fell to the ground on all fours before the shaman, just outside of the circle the tribe had formed around the fire.

The shaman began to shout healing prayers all around me as he waved his hands high into the sky and then over my body. Simultaneously, the tribe began to coordinate in their chants and alter their movements in the circle they had formed around the fire.

Soon, I could feel my breath begin to join the collective breath of the shawman and the tribe. As I would breath in, the entire tribe would pulsate their bodies inwards towards the fire, tightening the circle and the placement of their bodies. As I breathed out, the tribe would back away from the fire, enlarging the circle and creating new space.

Suddenly, the rhythm of my breath was in concert with the pulsating chants and movements of the tribe inwards and outwards from the fire. With each breath, the tiredness - the pain - the suffering - the worry - the anxiety - the wounds of my mind would be extracted from my body and exhaled into the fire where it would be returned to nature in its elemental form.

The beauty and gratitude for these ancient peoples, inviting this weary stranger into their camp where they could support me in helping heal me from my pain, transcends words.

Although the trip has ended, I do believe my mind created this powerful experience to help guide me on my journey to inner-peace. If I listen closely, I can still hear the drums in the distance, reminding me of the ancient peoples calling me home.

Forgive the poor sketch, but I drew this while I was tripping and could barely keep my eyes open. It shows me being prayed over by the shaman as one of the tribes people dances the ceremonial dance.

PTreeDish,

What an amazing story, thank you for sharing. Don’t be nervous, we’re a tribe here too 👍🏻

The beauty and gratitude for these ancient peoples, inviting this weary stranger into their camp where they could support me in helping heal me from my pain, transcends words.

This is a fundamental lesson; you are NOT a stranger, dude. We’re all one tribe. This will fundamentally change your outlook, for the better.
