Just drink the 7 gallons of hand sanitizer you bought, you might end up using your TP a little faster than normal though.

Grocery stores in cities are usually open 24 hours so you could also just hang out at the grocery store all night and wait for the stockers

My local store put a limit on Lysol and hand sanitizer after they ran out the first time.
I imagine alot of these people aren't even going to use half what they buy.
Also 2 weeks ago my friend was calling her mom crazy after she bought 2 CASES of hand sanitizer to resell on eBay. They're going for $20 per 8oz. That's more than 4x her investment.
Office depot had only a few left in stock today and that was $160 per 12oz.
I'm not even sure about crazy right now.

Tim's isn't what it used to be. They don't even sell the Canadian Maple donut in the states anymore.
There are only 14 confirmed cases in my state (PA), so I don't think people are too worried. And since everybody already has four months worth of TP, I guess the stores are back in stock after that initial rush.

When I was a kid they had huge donuts made in-house. They're just one step up from grocery store trash in a plastic box now. Bakeries are where it's at, this one in town makes hella raspberry fritters worthy of having sex with. They're twice as expensive but twice the size

Kinda funny. Made a couple mistakes on my orders last couple months. Lol. Ended up with 15 gallons of 99% isopropyl alcohol! Lol not such a bad mistake after all. Now if I had 50 gallons or so of aloe Vera I could make some serious cash.

They cancelled the rest of the NBA season, probably cancelling NHL tomorrow. I hope they don't cancel the screening of psychedelic masterpiece Barbarella (1967) I'm going to next weekend as I'm planning my tolerance around it.
My city is going to have full blown epidemic, pretty much for sure. We also depend on price of oil in my area and it hit catastrophic lows this week after Saudi's just opened the taps. Probably about 6 months until we are fighting for food in the thunderdome

Co-op was giving a free 2-litre jug of milk to anyone who spent 50$ or more on groceries they do different giveaways like that each month or so, so nothing really unusual
orange juice was on sale so the extra pulpy was sold out and had to get regular pulp presume that's people obsessing over vitamin c as much as my own self under normal circumstances

yeah but the colloquial perception seems to be that Vitamin C fights off cold, which extrapolates into flu symptoms but it is possible everyone in town just decided they also like the taste of orange

I’m selling it for $99.
Luckily I took the day off and bought every roll in the city. I’m sitting on $100k of TP.
Common sense preparation for Covid 19. That’s all this is.

You’re right, I’m not charging enough, but I am man of reason with firm constitutions and thus I refuse to charge more.
Also, as a man of culture I’ve owned a Toto for years. TP has little use in my household.

I just got back and yes there's a crowd and a definite sense of urgency in the air.
Of course the most sought after items are hand sanitizer and wipes. They were completely out (as they seem to be most places). They had a strong supply of water (for now anyway) and some toilet paper left but not much.
But yeah a group of people were huddled around the area where wipes & sanitizer would normally be, as if those items would magically reappear or something.
By the way, is this what the human race has been reduced to? Fighting off death with a $2 bottle of sanitizer and a $3 bottle of clorox wipes?

I didn't get a ton of stuff -- just $50 worth of water/food/hand soap/toilet paper. Enough to hold me over...for now.

If the water is out we have way bigger problem than Covid 19. Mass water shortages make Covid 19 look like a booger on the end of your finger.

People are fucking nuts man, I understand no one wants to get sick, but the media has a real good way of hyping things up.
6 people in my state of 6 million have it and not a single fatality. Ive read about at least 4 kids dying from the influenza in my state this year alone.

You can wipe with just about anything.
You can't trust that most anything will soak up copious amounts of blood while you're out raiding cans from the supermarket.

Well we're stimulating someone's economy. Unfortunately America's economy is much more tied up in the entertainment industry than it is manufacturing disinfectant and TP and rice and stuff...
This debacle is a net loss for everyone but healthcare manufacturers here.
Also I work with McKesson and the real estate management asked if they could help the cleaning staff get more disinfectants and they were basically just like
I have a feeling they know property management isn't asking with the idea of paying the 1500% markup.

Watch them scurry for the luxury of extra soft toilet paper and wipes while you roll out the 10lbs bags of rice, macaroni and beans in your cart.
Toiletpaper is NICE.
Staple foods are NECESSITY.

I got 8kg rice and 10 2pound bag of beans, I want to go back for one more rice and 5 more beans and 30 cans of veggies and codiments, maybe boullion, bbq, ranch and ceasar
if they still have rice I was only 2 days ahead of the hysteria when I went for the first rice and beans

My spirit guide asked me to chance a final supermarket run for a while, and so I did.
All the baskets were in use. so were most of the trolleys. More than a few people were visibly spooked. A lady was coughing her lungs out in the back of the store.
Empty spots on storeshelves. a few boxes of cough lozenges standing ready for stocking the shelves
Trying to keep the 2 meters distance where I went.
Cash register lady to the woman in front of me "How many people do you think I'm exposed to in a day, I'm scared to death!"
conscious gentle nose breathing to extra filter the air.
Almost nordic-walked out of the store!
Lady in the parking lot to another: "Yeah I dont know, he started coughing last week, and now today he has a fever..."
OUT OF THERE.
On my bike back my Spirit Guide said: "I wanted you to bear witness. Things are about to change."
Pool, and all sports accomodations, are closed "till March 31". Yeah, that'll be the day, its all going to be over because the prime minster put the date on the 31st. Like fuck, by then we'll have so much carnage that the even more draconian measures will b3e more readily accepted. I see them doing it, slowly bloiling the frog by gradually taking measures. Fucking take those measures NOW and smoothen the curve.
We're not going to stop this thing.
Buy time, ease the curve.
Just got a prompt from my provincial broadcasting network: Hospitals in my province issued a Code Red and one hospital already withdrew all leaves to its employees like it was some military base on alert.

I got like 15 cans of peas and carrots, 5 cans of yellow beans, 2 cans of corn, 8kg rice, 5kg dried beans, 1 large ketchup, 1 large ranch, 1 large cesar, 1 large bbq sauce, 1 soy sauce, 2 mustards, 3 packs boullion, 1 shaker potassium chloride, 1 large box of salt
thats on top of the 8kg rice and 10kg dried beans I bought just before the hysteria hit, thanks to finally caving in and listening to asante

I'm angry that they wont shut down somewhere.
There is no precaution there. Most of those people dont care.
I heard a few people people say. If they get it, they are going to make sure everyone does.
2 cases are reported right outside of that town about 20 minutes away.
We are just about a month behind. I think a lot of people are going to die because of stuff like this.

In addition to the food I already got stocked as rations, man I loaded up this weekend. The menu is loaded.
Picked up some Italian takeout
some eggplant parm

order of cannelloni

then a nice sized ahi tuna steak from the market

fresh real chicharrones (not the chipssold at gas stations) from a mexican grocery store

a 4 pack of chicken thighs that I'm gonna do with this mango-aji sauce which is freaking amazing

I'm just kicking off a 2 week and change stretch of being off with pay and today I shall drink

Holland has many old people.
Right now the home delivery of groceries is jammed almost everywhere because everybody is buying in bulk for hoarding.
Fortunately old people are often the first TO hoard, but still.
Theres already conmen taking advantage of COVID such as going door to door for a "covid charity"
The foresight of a cinderblock, going door to door when COVID's around.
They'll collect more than money

I always see those jarred whole chickens. Yuck.
Canned beef is where it’s at. I like to make a ball of it and heat it up on a pan, so the outside is crispy but the inside stays juicy

You don't want 10lbs cans of food because if electricity breaks down you cant preserve the open container.
You want normal sizes cans, by the box.

I cloned some store-bought oysters. Don’t even have the means to fruit them, but if worst comes to worst, we can probably survive for like a year off my shiitake stocked up on myco supplies recently...
That would kinda suck though, cause I’ll hate mushrooms for the rest of my life

went to the grocery store by gf's house on monday and wednesday, monday I just popped into to buy some coffee, there was lots left, I took a quick look around the store, most of the meat was gone, there was lots of bacon and $15 steaks, that was about it, all the produce was untouched, all the cheap <$2 cans of fish were gone, but all the expensive cans of fish was there, snackpacks were untouched and on sale for $1 we bought a bunch, half the sidekicks were gone, half the ramen was gone
when I went wednesday, the completely full rack of eggs on monday was gone, all the cheap coffee was gone, glad I grabbed one on monday, all the bread was gone, my gf did a $100 shop, she buys all fresh things, so what she wanted to buy wasnt really impacted at all
tomorrow I have to go to the grocery store by my house to pick up my prescription, im gonna try to pick up 9 more cans of vegetables to make an even 30 in my stock pile, and im doing maple syrup this year, so I figure I should also stock a 30 day supply of oats and pancake mix, so I have breakfast to go with all the dinner I stockpiled
but I dont have high hopes of finding what I want tomorrow

Pancakes don't use egg typically. You might add egg to pancake mix to make waffles though.

There's another magic powder:
Whole Egg Powder.
Its a bakery ingredient.
Half an ounce, add an ounce and a half of water
Shake
Reconstituted egg!
We don't have to worry about longterm storage properties because THE CRISIS IS NOW but, whole egg powder is said to be good for 5-30 years.

Definitely eggs in pancakes. Just water and flour would be like a flatbread or tortilla or something. I've had pancakes with bacon and maple syrup for a couple of the past weekends so good

Survival brands have it canned under inert atmosphere, in which case its good for 30 years.
No point in that though.
got 6kg of the funky stuff, representing 500 eggs.

Going for a mad dash at stop&shop today, then local deli’s for them canned treasures. Keeping my fingers crossed for that egg powder & pancake mix.
So far, I have about 2lbs of rice and 80lbs of WBS

one time I made pancakes with 1/2cup cattail pollen, 1/2 cup flour, they were so creamy, but I sifted out like 10 spiders outta the pollen lol, you just reminded me of that because I read the roots were edible and easy to find in the winter, although not the easiest to get at

it was actually really good, think ill do it again this year https://www.farmersalmanac.com/cooking-wild-edible-cattails-25374
Quote:
Baking with Cattail Pollen: Once the catkins mature – usually by the end of June – you can harvest pollen by bending the catkins into a bag and shaking the pollen off. Cattails produce a lot of pollen, so you’ll end up with several pounds in no time. The pollen makes an excellent high-protein substitute for flour in your favorite baked goods.
