Addicted to brf's.... 1

This is why I like brf's so much:

They're stupid easy, fast, and the yield is very efficient in a HC . And they can look impressive too. This chitwan is from the same syringe that produced some crazy, fat-assed shrooms. My 1st cake, 1st flush was 94g from a 210g cake. Not sure why some of the cakes' pins insist on all growing DOWN. Humidity is plenty high.

I'm... not seeing the draw. Have you tried other methods or are you just addicted to the first material you got down? Not trying to downplay your happiness here, I just personally wouldn't be too satisfied, given my relative needs.

It's a fair question.
I like the efficiency and flexibility of growing smaller quantities of what I like. I can, and do, get about 140g wet from 2 good flushes, which ain't bad for a 5 ounce brf! I've opined on this before, so won't go into details. Hydration/soaking is critical!
Senile brf's get soaked/grated up into 100% coir shoeboxes, but these seem slow and unconvincing so far.
The year is young!

Try adding a few drops of unsulfured molasses to the water when you make your cakes. Karo syrup would probably work too....

Shred your cakes and go to bulk with coir in a shoe box, you’ll have a lot of fun with that. You can get 5 boxes for $5 at dollar general. First flush gets 2 or 3 times more wet weight than a cake.

Agreed, all the pro's seem to forget where they came from. Even if your first grow was a badass monotub that you started on agar you certainly didn't just pull it out of your ass.

SYF8--I do shred my brf's into moist coir 2:3 or 1:1, depending on the vitality of the cake, mush strain, etc. 'Senile' brf's go with much stronger brf's, lower ratio's, etc. I don't have many tubs, but the oldest/largest is a PE shoebox, blobbing like crazy, not a normal pin in sight. I have smaller tubs of GT and B+ that are slow after 2 weeks, and may get dumped out back.
Brf's work for me!

I've thought about doing some cakes again. Problem is I got no syringes and won't be paying money for one. I've thought about putting a filter on the lid and skipping the verm later, but then one of my boxes pin and I remember how easy and effective they are. If I could get LC down I would do a run of clone cakes just to see what they can really do. For now ill keep putting agar to grain tho. Nice cakes OP. Keep it up.

I'm not a huge consumer of shrooms (neither my gf), so going with pftek from time to time is more than enough (last time I had about 56gr dried from 10 jars that i shared 50-50 with a friend), and as a new grower i think is the safest (avoiding contaminations) and fastest way. I wan't to master this tek very well and then try different methods

Tub 4 gave me six gangly goodies just as I had all on hand ('backtracked') to make 12 half-pint jars. Tubs 5-9 are mixed, and my waning spirit has turned back to waxing (noob misreading of that whole humidity/co2 thing). And in a few days I will have all on hand to clone or MS syringe to agar, and will save some spores, as well. I'm enjoying the whole thing, but would have spent at least my first few months doing what you're doing if I knew then, what I know now (there's a song for that).
