nice Psilocybe semilanceata aka liberty caps.
edit: I just have to say that I love the name liberty caps, Psilocybin is definitely liberating for many of us.

BOP coastal at sea level. Odd ones and twos popped up, if you look hard enough. No decent flushes yet. Was doubtful with 11 degree low. But goes to show that tempteature variance with rain has kicked things into gear. Looks like the bugs are hungry for them too getting first dibs. With a super dry summer the moisture about now should see the mycelium loving it. Not enough to fire up the dehydrater so made up a pot for the outdoor garden.

I found all of these in my backyard except two big ones which I found in the pine bush just across the street, I was hoping to find some as it rained/hailed here in Dunedin Yesterday, pity we have lockdown else could have gone to other places.

Subs grow all over Auckland. . . Aucklandii grow in the Waitakeres (aparently, never seen em though)
Weraroa have been found near Piha. . . So I'd hope they also grow near Bethells?
Now the rain today was insame. . . Time for a few strolls. . .

This cute couple found in the most unlikely of spots, exposed along a vertical clay bank. A bit of mulch had fallen from the top. Left them there to do their thing.
Lots of rain forecast. But still getting warm temps.

Far out, are you north or south cuz? I’ve been hunting every morning since the rains started and still ain’t found shit. Mind you it barely dropped below 9 degrees here in the Tron. I’m used to colder fruiting in Melbs. Check your local temp history if you want to poll - https://www.wunderground.com/history/monthly/NZHN/date/2020-4

Decent haul on my morning walk to the dairy.
Been noticing a few other people foraging too. Even been approached once or twice from people asking for advice. I'm always happy to help people with tips and to show people exactly what to look for. It always amuses me to watch people comb through an area and miss large patches (which I happily go and claim myself).
I think the hardest thing starting out is to know what to look for, and then from there its training the eyes recognize exactly the characteristics of what they are looking for. For me, its very obvious and I can spot liberty caps very easily. For this reason I like to help people find their first patch so they have a reference of what to look for on their own.
If only we had free reign to walk through paddocks. Think of the seemingly endless kilograms of mushrooms that never see human attention.
