Panentheism Christianity
    #26526206 - 03/09/20 09:24 PM (3 years, 10 months ago)

pan·en·the·ism
/paˈnenTHēˌizəm/
noun: panentheism:

the belief or doctrine that God is greater than the universe and includes and interpenetrates it.

Chris·ti·an·i·ty
/ˌkrisCHēˈanədē/
noun: Christianity:

the religion based on the person and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, or its beliefs and practices.

I think this is what I am, by definition, not that I should give myself a title, it's been said that it is violence to call yourself anything, because than you are dividing yourself from others, beliefs seperate you from others causing enmity, but if I am something, I think this is is it, there's tons of Buddhist and Hindu/Yogi influences in my life, and when my friend calls me his Buddhist brother I accept it with pride.

what do you call yourself? can we express ourselves with titles but without causing conflict and antagonism? some here at the Shroomery even proclaim there titled beliefs in there names, i'm talking of you Markos-The-Wiccan and Gnostic-Seeker (lol, I'm just messin' with ya two!)

One can be a Panentheist in a Christian idiom. I prefer this theology over theism (monotheism or polytheism), deism and pantheism any day. Monism has a strong appeal only because it is non-dual and ultimately if the "material energies" (Bhagavad Gita Pantheism) are emanations of Deity then the universe itself is somehow subsumed into God. Yet valuing material things above all else is just crass idolatry.

Very interesting, you see I'm sure there was some attraction to Panentheism along time coming, but what really got me interested in it was this dream I had several years ago I don't even remember how long ago, in it, Jesus stood in front of me, it was a blue and white lighted room, my brother and a whole bunch of his friends (strait-edge hardcore punk rockers with tattoo's) were standing to the side, Jesus walked up to my brother pointed and said "You are God!", He than walked to one of his friends and pointed and said "You are God!", he than walked up to me, pointed, smiled, and I woke up bofore he said anything,,,so to understand my view of the world is understand this dream, I feel Panentheist Christian suits me fine, if any of you had this dream, what would you believe?

The book looks interesting. I've probally should look into it before calling myself by that term.

I Have a theory/view that there is a love and bliss in every particule or atom or molecule, (maybe Prana is close to what i'm talking about) the matariel itself is suffering (though still part of God), but the joy that permeates it is reminding us to rise above the material, to not be attached to it, it's impermanent, suffering and subject to change, "It is not mine, I am not, This is not a self."

So, Phisical=Suffering, The spirit that inhabits and lords over it=Bliss. though both could be part of God.
