Aquarium heater in jug 'O water in a closed space = invitation too mold and/or other contaminates -even though you can't see them you are giving the microscopic nasties a place to call home or at least gravitate towards. Can you find a bit of a warmer space? On top of your refrigerator, on the floor next to a radiator or the like? A hundred years ago when I started growing I tried the aquarium heater in the jug methods in different configurations and it just causes more problems than it solves.
Room temperature is plenty warm to grow; mid 60's F is on the cool side but room temp. is really all you need.

Live and learn my friend. Like you said, it's an experiment. Even the best scientists in the world learn mor from their failures than they do from their . It's the world we live in. But still, the way you are thinking is the way I was thinking when I first started growing and it doesn't work lol! Especially since you just mentioned bleach! Great minds tghink alike but so do demented ones! I'm just joking with you; don't take my post too seriously. I only wish you the best of luck with your project Peace yo...

Everything will be peachy I'm sure of that. Learn from everything. A tad of bleach in la aqua, no problem. Cracked lid and it self regulates 80f

80 degrees is too hot! Mucho warm = bacteria just right =
just right for colonization = 80F or under. (your substrate). If your tub is 80F, your substrate is several degrees higher. N.G. I luv ya.

M8 bacteria isn't an issue cause I do things right. Also I actually put it to 84f because room temp is 62f
Heats going to dissipate out so I gotta compensate. Contams are an issue that's solved with agar and test jars. I'm a bad boy no?

OMG amigo . I was hoping... Aw fuck... How many years of college do you have? I love this website. This ain't just some drug website where blah blah blah is part of the game. Some people who chime in actually have careers that involve microbiology and (believe me) some very very cool stuff. But U know better I guess?
I love you man, you are at least a man with conviction -where I live there are many pussies. Keep rockin', but learning to LISTEN is always a good thing.

Whatever you do, always keep in mind that the mushroom substrate is ALWAYS going to be a few degrees warmer than the surrounding air. And 2- the hotter you incubate the more it favors contams.

Looks like it’ll work.
Basically the same as a jar of hot water in a cooler Method, only this keeps the jar perpetually warm.
If it’s in the mid 60s in the room then an 82 degree jar of water should keep that tote in the right range, don’t see any reason it would cause problems.

Sooooo guys, I had it on over night and I come check temp's right. So I had it on 83f guess what. Heat disperses out and average temp inside is 71f. NOT HIGH ENOUGH PARA MI. I now set the heater higher to 87. If that maintains 73f I gotta out this bad boy to Max temp. Or wrap it in a towel to maintain a higher temp in side. I'll be dialing this thing in for a day or two I feel. No condensation on the lid. So far nicer temps

If you put a couple drops of bleach in the liquid container it will keep stuff from growing. Or salt that does just as well. I used to use a shoe box filled about 3/4 full with h20 and an aquarium heater, but my old apartment was cold like 40°f when it got really cold outside.

Thanks brus, I notice some wall condensation. See I can worry but also the jars have contam barriers and they aren't contamed themselves. I mean mildew potentially, maybe some green boy tricho. But I doubt it you know? Last night 55f out in was 59-61. Brrrrrr. But it's maintaind 71 through that. Neeeeeeet and feels good. I am aiming for 77-80

75 is more than warm enough mate. The sub is a couple degrees higher anyhow so getting it up to 77-80 the subs will be 80 to 83 about. And imo thats to warm never had good luck over 75f.
