I know the millet can be a pain in the ass but you get so many more inoculation points.

things to help with using bag
the bags i use (from lowes $4 2pk) have a good amount of elasticity but be mindful of the fact that the volume will be much larger once the grain is hydrated.
once youve emptied your bag dont try washing it or picking out all the leftover debris. you can rinse off but just hang it to dry and come back later and just shake it out , turn inside out, shake it out and all the dried particles will be gone.

I use a giant stock pot and keep rinsing till it’s clean just put one of those grease catcher screens over your sink drain so you don’t clog it by accident

I just found a feed shop close by that sells race horse oats and I'll grab those if I have to. https://www.triplecrownfeed.com/products/whole-oats/ I know that shit is pretty clean compared to the producers pride.

This stuff has been great lately at Walmart. Used to be a lot of sunflower and corn but lately the bags have been primarily milo & millet. Real clean and easy to work with & very few floaters when cooking.

I usually get that bag too. Its hit n miss on the corn/sflower. I find it better than Pennington whenever you score an optimal bag.

Sweet Grass Triple cleaned race horse oats
https://www.calranch.com/triple-cleaned-whole-oats-all-50-lb.html
I don't know who sells online I get it locally (not from that store) but call around the feed stores by you and see if anyone has these. They are the best.

Whats so good? Is this the only brand youve tried or have you only used this one?
I've gone through about 4 or 5 different brands of oats.. The purina ones are always the most prevalent. They are ok but I find random straws, corn, lentil things and weird little black balls in them all the time. I'll use Purina if I have to with good results, but these are Impeccably clean. No corn, no random stuff, no dirt, and they aren't bulked up at all in the dry state which to me says they were cured properly.
I've also used WBS and I don't like it. Inooculation points don't really matter I get the same rate of colonization WBS to oats.

Nice to see you FooMan I also use the same bag of economy wbs. Haven't bought one recently but in the past when I used it, it was always very dirty and full of cracked corn and sunflower seeds. I don't mind though it's cheap. When this bag runs out I'll have to check it out again to see how much they have improved.

Haven't lived till you got a little wbs between your toes and I see your feet. Lmao. I use a homemade strainer bucket. Don't have to worry about it falling through at all but I'm clumsy I always spill grains while filling jars. I agree though was has always been good to me.

What sort of issues have you run into with oats? I haven't tried anything else as reference, but so far they are easy and consistent.

Search it up it has literally been discussed so many times that I'm getting sick of it. There are literally TCs that flat out say fuck oats. There are others that love them. You either hate them or love them. That's as much as I'm willimg to even say about that as it's a never ending discussion that I'm getting sick of.

Dirty and poor quality oats suck.
Triple cleaned race horse oats I'll swear by.
Such an easy prep.

You won't be disappointed if you can find them.
This is what the bag looks like and Murdochs Ranch supply always has them in stock if that's an option for you. https://www.murdochs.com/globalassets/hlr-system/product/hard-goods/manufacturer/t-manu/teton/products/teton-9082975-/product-photos-s7/teton-9082975-main.jpg
