Looks to me like the mycelium is trying to colonize the casing which could explain the lack of a second flush

Who cares if it does or doesn't colonize the casing. Won't change anything

Thanks for your replies. I will try lowering the temperature. I just used what the kit instructions told me to use. The first flush did not seem to be affected though. Could it be that I let them grow too big and when they dropped spores they caused the pins to stop growing?

lol god damn that’s a heavy spore drop.
Is that lgt?
Op did you rehydrate the sub after harvest? Ime after harvesting and spraying/dunking new pins will show up 3-7 days later.

I did not do anything special to re-hydrate. Just what I do every day. Spray with bottled water to keep the surface moist (but not so much that water pools).
The first flush only came at the 2 sides. It grew nicely in about 5 days till the caps opened and I harvested.
I saw other pins starting to form, but they never got any bigger. Could it be that the first flush took a lot of water from the substrate, and now the substrate is too dry? How can I even check that?
This is my first grow. I followed the instructions that came with the kit I bought: see rules And I have also looked at many different guides and forums on the internet. The instructions that came with the kit say to keep a temperature 26-28C for all of the stages. (Spawning, casing, fruiting).
Later though, the instructions mention: "If your mushrooms are small and not getting past the pinning stage - adjust to a cooler temperature (18-20C) and make sure there is adequate moisture and misting, but do not overwater"
Any advice or suggestions are welcomed.
For now, I am trying a cooler temperature (21-23C).
If I was to try to re-hydrate the substrate, how would I go about doing that?

The ones you saw that stayed small were probably aborts.
I’d stick to the directions but usually with bulk tubs you either soak them with the mister or fill the tub with water for an hour or two.

The soil could be packed down too tight suffocating the myc, looks well hydrated to me
