I'm a first time grower and two of my jars are colonizing, but the other two are not! Thoughts?

Hi everyone!
I found the Shroomery about a month ago and had been lurking until two weeks ago when I decided to give the Updated PF Tek a try. I've followed it as closely as possible and have started to see some colonization in two of my four half pint jars. Here are a few pictures:
Jar #1

Jar #2

Jar #3

I won't bother uploading pictures of the fourth jar is it looks similar to jar #3. What I will say about jar #4 is that the 4 holes that I put in the lid were quite a bit smaller as it was the first jar that I worked with and it was difficult to properly inject the spores into the BRF cake. However, I made the holes larger on the other three jars and did not have an issue injecting spores. I also think that was not consistent when inoculating the jars and instead of inserting the syringe toward the glass, I inserted the syringe straight down. Is this why there seems to a huge difference in colonization rates between jars? Colonization will still occur even if I made the mistake of inoculating near the center of the cake, right? I am just at a disadvantage because I am unable to observe any possible contamination...
I purchased a bundle of four different cube varieties from a long-time site sponsor. The jars above are Golden Teacher and I have Burma, Treasure Coast, and Columbian Rustspores stored in the refrigerator.
Originally I was planning on following the PF Tek all the way through with the SGFC, but I'm beginning to second guess myself. I've been reading through the BRF to bulk/Cakes as spawn thread and it seems to be a viable path to go down in order to get a larger yield. Any thoughts on this? Am I on the right track?
Thanks!

Cubensis mycelium is quite beautiful.
50% success ain't bad for shooting spores into jars. If you are after a higher success rate then pursue agar.

If you shot them towards the center, the myc is probably there but just not visible.
Whatever the issue, give it time.

If they all grow with no contams you could do a half n half or whatever you feel like- do some to bulk and just try fruiting a cake or 2 in a small tub or tupperware. But definetly go getcha some agar agar to get into that, its honestly easy. Sometimes a Little time consuming but its definetly better than multispore syringe inoculation, also gives you more control over variables of contam prevention. And you can make up a bunch of plates and have them pre-made so once you get some fruits or even pins you can get a clone culture going
If you havent found this yet lots of good info that will increase your knowledge substantially

If you inserted the needle straight down it could very well be that the mycelium is there, but simply not visible as it has yet to colonize its way to the outer part of the cake.
